Re: Requests

Long shot here, but worth a try. Does anyone have a rip of Melle Mel's 'Mama' promo single from 1997? I would really appreciate this.

Re: Freestyles, Demos, Assorted Rarities

err sorry, was one of those terrible phone messages where I can't be arsed to make it coherent. what I meant was, it's sounding a little rough round the edges - I'm not sure if it's the quality of the unreleased tunes, or if it's just a questionable copy. I was asking if anyone would like to poke a...

Re: Black Moon- Behind The Moon Documentary

I posted a request in the videos section about a year ago, for two documentaries which were done in the 90s about Brooklyn, by some of the Shadez of Brooklyn crew. I don't think this is off topic in this thread, but I saw this recently on youtube : WzUSVVco-OA and this other snipppet: HZTX4BNCh80 Qu...

Re: The 1990's Reggae-Hip Hop Exchange

Hey Shadow....the project is coming along very slowly, as I'm currently on a job search. The bright side is that I've finally finished making my party breaks, so I should be ready to start recording soon when I find the time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl" onclick="window.open(this.href);...

Re: Fat Joe Had A Lil` Beef With Masta Ace???

I had read somewhere else that Fat Joe stepped to Ace over the verse about the "Puerto Rican Latin chico Rico Suave" on Jeepassnigguhz. But maybe there were several reasons. Yeah the story is different depending on the interviews referenced, the one you quoted was what I presumed it was about but t...

Re: Your Top 10 Non-Canonical Albums

Dunno if Mic Geronimo's The Natural is too popular for this? I'd add Pop Da Brown Hornet's Underground Emperor - it's quite a consistent LP. Maybe AZ's Pieces of A Man. O.C.'s Jewelz although that's definitely very popular.

Re: Hot 97 freestyles compilation

Is there any version of a Nore funk flex freestyle out there where he's rhyming over Raekwon's Ice Cream beat, saying stuff like 'Pumping the Bridge is Over'?

It was probably around 1998 or 1999. I've been looking for that one for years.

The album featured Kool G Rap who moved to Phoenix where he recorded his "Roots of Evil" album.. That's awesome info man! im never heard that he lived in Phoenix What's interesting about this is that his feature for Nutmeg was released in '95. That's when, as far as I know, he was still in NY and p...

Re: When did the golden era end?

The flood stories go on and on. I don't know if I believe half of them. Can't really imagine Ironman being much better, Raekwon tried to convince him to make another crime lp as a sequel but Ghost switched it. I played it too much back then. I also know some very critical people and they all loved i...

Re: When did the golden era end?

That's revisionist thinking, people were playing Ironman for months. People I knew, at least. Personally, I feel Hell on Earth is not as good as Infamous but it was extremely popular at the time. The best parts of HOE are still amazing, though. With both Ironman and HOE it's just a change in product...

If it's not due to legal issues I think plenty of media firms look to tailor releases for a local market. They get it badly wrong a lot of the time.
