Heads really sleeping on SEARCH PARTY. Atlanta is probably the better comedy, but Search Party is fucking phenomenal. It had 100% on RT last time I checked.

Re: The Best Rapper For Every Year Since 1979 [Complex]

I know it's probably too underground for Complex's tastes (and maybe this board's too?), but MF Doom's 1999 is pretty much undeniable. Fixed. I think he's in contention every year 1999-2004, honestly. Maybe the strongest 5 year stretch of any one rapper. You could certainly make that argument. I on...

Look at this thread. Puffy and Nelly are mentioned without a hint of irony. You sig shouts out Drake and you haven't been sonned out of existence. 2016 PF is not 2001 HHI.

Re: pick your favorite track off Compton

I think Talk About It is one of the better beats, but King Mez is King Meh. Whose flow is he jacking? It sounds so familiar, but I can't place it. Justus does an admirable job of standing in for Drake on the hook, but I can imagine about 30 other rappers really destroying this beat.

Re: Dr Dre "Compton" album? aug 7th

The sibilance is out of fucking control. There's literally whistling in my headphones. I think the album is pretty okay, good even. But it's also the perfect example of why ghostwriting is fucking wack and harmful to the art. On first listen, I didn't realize it was Dre rapping until half way throug...

I didn't get to see the fight but I got tons of butthurt pacman people in my timelines acting like mayweather ran the whole time and manny should have won. Any truth to this? Cause, gauging from actual boxing fans, Floyd sounds like he won pretty handily. Either way, sounded like a boring fight. I ...

Re: Mayweather vs Pacquiao is official

It kills me that people are blaming Mayweather for an underwhelming fight. Pac was throwing like 30 punches a round and landing 5-7. Isn't he supposed to be a come-forward puncher? 99% of people complaining about the fight probably don't watch 2 fights a year and don't know shit about boxing.

Re: Killer Mike and El-P

Yeah, those are good points. I don't really check for KRIT and barely listened to Mike before R.A.P. I'm probably overstating the "expiration date" thing. Looking back, I was listening to tons of rap in the early 2000's (especially compared to how much I've listened to over the past decade) and I th...

I'm not complaining about soul samples in general, I just think these kinda flips that are so direct and obvious aren't great and sound like they belong in 2002. I'm not against soul samples at all. None of you thinks this is an interesting beat.

I see. I didn't know it was old. But that production is still boring and way past the 04-05 expiration date for this style.

Wifey watches. I've seen 2 or 3 eps. It's so bad. I see its appeal as a evening soap, but if you don't buy into all the ridiculous soap-opera twists and turns... it's hard to watch.

Fun watch. Ultimately forgettable Oscar bait. I didn't know much about Turing going in, so the lack of his persecution for being gay didn't register much with me at the time. But people I respect who are really familiar with his bio are outraged with the way his sexuality/persecution was depicted. A...

The title, as noted, is really REALLY bad. But the movie pretty PRETTY good.

If you can get past the expectation that this is gonna be a blood-bath, it's a decent flick... though I think it's ultimately forgettable.

Popped this in the DVD player the other day, couldn't stand it, turned it off. These wars have inspired generally horrible movies. This one added nothing new... granted, I didn't make it to the second half PTSD stuff.
