Re: KanKick

Good looking, Sylar! I was just streaming this record off his bandcamp page last night, what I heard is great so far. DJ Primate upped a folder of Kankick's unreleased beats in the demos and rarities thread a couple of yrs ago but the link is dead. I have it in my hd, will post later tonight. Thanks...

Thanks. I've dug Kankick since I heard side b of DJ Babu's Comprehension mixtape, which I believe was entirely produced by him. Will check these out.

Re: Dan's DVD Picks for September 17th

I always think I have this one cause I get it confused with Two Men in Town, which has Delon in it and is french so I think its a Melville. Will definitely buy. If you get to peep it first, I'd be curious to know how disappointing or underrated it is. Recently I happened to see Marcel Carne's Three...

Re: Visual Samplings: Hip Hop Re-Creation Photos

hahaa, always loved that Thelonious cover. Never really thought of any connections but i guess i can get with what you sayin. Isn't it classic tho? As I implied, there's absolutely no direct connection between those covers, let alone any kind of recreation. I do remember the Dylan cover immediately...

Also, maybe not direct antecedents but two indirect influences for covers like Daily Operation, in terms of presenting artists in perhaps underground spaces (i.e. bomb shelters) surrounded by artifacts: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/4e/Gang_Starr_Daily_Operation.jpg http://2.bp.blogspot...

Even though I think Melville himself didn't think Two Men from Manhattan was very good I'm always up for unseen Melville.

I wish someone would release Magnet Of Doom already

5 years ago, I never thought I'd say that Punch-Drunk Love and There Will Be Blood hold up better for me than all QT movies except Jackie Brown. QT movies are a lot of fun tho (faint praise)
