Re: Supergirl (CBS Series)

The Flash is the dopest comic book show in TV, and my favorite show right now. Mind you, I haven't watched iZombie. I love the Supergirl trailer, because it seems tonally similar to The Flash. That other joint, Legends of Tomorrow, looks boss too. These shows have my geekometer cranked up to ten.

Re: DC comic movies thread

Well, there was a recent storyline in the Green Lantern comics that showed the "emotional light reservoirs" were being depleted by too much Lantern ring use. And now there is an offshoot group of Lanterns that refuse to use their rings in an attempt at conservation. I agree that the concept of the G...

Re: DC comic movies thread

They're fools if they don't use John Stewart. Even if they collapse different elements of other Green Lanterns into one character, Stewart should be it. He's the most recognizable and probably most beloved Lantern character, notwithstanding the seemingly unlimited weirdos who have a hard-on for Kyle...

If this movie follows the most recent comic book runs of Ant-Man, including the new one written by Nick Spencer, then it will have a fair amount of humor.

:lastweek: to all of this, but I've been reading a bunch of (mostly older) stuff lately. Comics I've been enjoying this year: -People have told me repeatedly to read The Sandman, and I finally have. Re: Comics (Obama approves of this thread)

Lotta good comics these days. Best in superheroes is Mark Waid and Chris Samnee's Daredevil. You can get about half of the current run in trades right now. It reboots in March or April as part of the Marvel New Now! thing...same team, except Murdock is in San Francisco. Oh, and they're going to char...

Re: "Superman & Batman" film to be released in 2015

You have no idea. For shocks and giggles, go check out a copy of the trade collection for All-Star Batman and Robin at the library, which is from where the above panel derives. It's so poorly-written, you have to wonder if the script was subjected to any editorial scrutiny at all. And you know, it's...

I figure this is the most proper place for this: Fans of comics art and history need to follow Jim Steranko (@iamsteranko) on twitter. He drops serious anecdotal gems on a nightly basis. Here's just a sliver of the dimes dropped: I moved away from home before Christmas when I was 17, taking some clo...

What is required, I wonder, before a DVD becomes a Blu-Ray? I often cop Blu-Rays off Amazon for under ten bucks, so I assume the process is really cheap. Yet I'd think you could probably round up every person in the world who gives a shit about Peggy Sue Got Married in a New York City high school au...

Re: "Superman & Batman" film to be released in 2015

@Reggie Youre more up on DC stuff than me, so am I right in thinking there are other (possibly better) Bats/Supes crossovers out there than Millar's stuff? For sure. One of the easiest one-off titles would be World's Finest by Dave Gibbons and Steve Rude. That's a nice, encapsulated story that has ...

Re: "Superman & Batman" film to be released in 2015

I hope that by suggesting the movie will be informed by Batman's fight with Superman from The Dark Knight Returns, it doesn't mean the two will be antagonistic pricks to each other throughout most of the movie, putting aside their differences at the very end so they can join forces against some spac...

I have definitely proclaimed my love for Rockstar's The Warriors on here, and, while not a side-scroller beat 'em up per se, it is available for download on PS3. If you need that Double Dragon action, you can unlock the Armies of the Night arcade game which is an exact replica of that game.

Re: Is there any film with greater longevity than Star Wars?

Reason I'd put Star Wars over Bond is that everyone sweats the original SW trilogy, with Bond there's no definitive film or series of continuous films that are definitive for the character (at least that is agreed upon in a critical manner). The character of James Bond is more influential than the ...
