Re: BOOKS. whatcha readin...?
I made a NY resolution to read 100 books this year. I think I'm @ 120+ but it got real easy when I started to listen to audiobooks too It's fun to keep a list of things you read because you might forget otherwise if youre just ploughing through them. I should get an account goodreads maybe but you ...

Re: What movie did you watch today?
Memory of a Killer (2003) - Solid Belgian thriller done in US-style. Cops track a hitman who is out for revenge. Weird this was not remade since it was sold but it might still get made perhaps. A Map for Saturday (2007) - A man quits his awesome job to travel around for a year and incidentally makes...

Re: What movie did you watch today?
Le Mans (1971) - I respect this film but its not really for me. The Final Terror (1983) - A lost Canadian survival horror like Rituals, although not as good. Still a lot better than many similar movies. The main focus is survival and slasher-elements are not really at the forefront. In that way this...

Re: Best movies 2016
Are we going to do polls? I wouldn't mind helping out, if that makes a difference. But I supposse all of the good movies this year was a bit niche, which perhaps makes it harder to break stuff in to categories. No one actually liked the superherofilms, summer blockbusters or Liberal Message Films, f...

Holy Hell (2016) - Solid CNN-docu about the Buddhafield cult. The leader of this group is a complete creep. Jeeg Robot (2016) - Anti-hero superherofilm from Italy. Did not quite live up to expectations after the festivalhype. Blair Witch (2016) - At times Wingaard came really close to doing this fil...

Re: What movie did you watch today?
The Untamed (2016) - This is a stylish sci-fi horror from Mexico about an alien prescence pleasuring women. It was like a Latin-American take on Antichrist by Von Trier. I still haven't fully understood it. Bodom (2016) - Finnish forresthorrorfilm with good gimmicks but it was more for the teen crow...

Re: What movie did you watch today?
Last House on the Beach (1978) - Ray Lovelock and Florinda Balkan star in possibly the weakest "Last House..."-film of the 70's. Never Cry Wolf (1983) - Based on a book about a biologist who studied arctic wolves for a year. Recommendable for most wolf-fans I think. Tricked (2012) - This Verhoeven f...

The DPG song is unfortunately too short because half of it is a poetry recital. It's one of the best Nate Dogg moments ever though. I'm suprised I don't see more people complain that the aliens looked a bit lame. Maybe its just me being arrogant and pedantinc. But I have a hard time accepting that a creature who looks like that could teach the human species anything. I should have stayed away from reviews, even after watching th...

Re: Best movies 2016
Victoria was a 2015 release wasn't it? One of my favorite from last year, actually. If Green Room and Neon Demon are in your top ten of the year it's not been a great year. They're interesting but highly flawed imo. Again, we're just getting into the part of the year where the really quality films ...

Re: What movie did you watch today?
Heart of Darkness (1991) - Tremendously enjoyable after having rewatched Apocalypse Now. I love how FFC's wife makes her prescence felt in the docu without distracting from giving the fans what they want. Jeepers Creepers (2001) - Decent enough monsterfilm but I probably would have liked it a lot be...

Re: Censorship in rap
In the original "A Milli" Wayne says "(...) the almighty Allah" - which was changed to "the ch-ch-ch-chopper" on the album version.
Not sure if Wayne censored himself or if someone had a word with him.

Re: Arrival (D: Villeneuve)
I thought the film was good but not great. Expected a bit more from Villeneuve but it's very impressive that this is his weakest film since 2010 and only his fifth best. Him and Refn are at this point the only reason to visit a mainstream cinema. This one might really benefit from a rewatch later I ...

Hacksaw Ridge (Mel Gibson @ War)
I really enjoyed the last hour of battlefield action but found the first half painful to sit through at times. It was more than worth it though.
Is anyone else excited that Mel Gibson is back?

Re: thoughts on this album? (the true meaning)
It's sad that this was his last good album. Seems like he was just getting started when this dropped. From what I remember he went on a hiatus after and then decided to focus on his label instead. Wish he would have made another album while he was still in his prime.

Re: The Horror Movie Thread
Under the Shadow is superb. It doesn't earn any cool-points from me for being Iranian - it's just an excellent horrorfilm period. The scares really test your nerves and the last half hour is just intense as hell. You rarely get atmosphere this good in a horror but you have to pay attention or don't...

Re: Black Mirror Season 3
Playtest is the only real horror episode but the American Bro-protagonist almost destroys everything with his dumb face. In Order of Disappearence (2014) - This is the film Tarantino would make if he was Norwegian. It's a snowy action-comedy-drama about a father who wants to take down a crimesyndicate to avenge his son. Elle (2016) - This is instantly a top 5 Verhoeven film. No one but Isabellle Huppert could have pla...

My favorite OST-only song is either this or Big Pimpin by DPG. So many versions of this song but this is the tightest by far 0Qcoz6lK4rY I thought this was from an OST but actually its from some compilations, otherwise it would win it for me. 40 kills it "why is yo slang so illiterate?" Korea is killing it in 2016. The Wailing is a third classic from Hong-Jin. Hes getting better with every film too. Has to be considered one of the best right now. pyWuHv2-Abk I think this is the best zombiefilm since REC. Has anyone seen it? There's lots of hype about it on the internet too. But I wouldn't say this film reinvents the wheel really, it just does everything right and on a scale that feels unprecedented for a movie like this. Think many of you g...

General Idi Amin (1974) - Compelling docu about one of the most infamous dictators ever. He was a truly insane man with a completely baseless conviction of his own importance. The Mindbender of tyrants. Also worth watching for great scenes of Uganda in the 70's. Going Places (1974) - The French take...
