Re: World Cup '14 - Official Thread

Messi needs a 9 to operate in front of him to open up space. The False 9 has meant that he's now being "boxed in" by the two central defenders and two holding midfielders. He links up well with Higuain so there you go. Would be a good signing IMO. And if I were a betting man Italy looks good at tho...

Re: World Cup '14 - Official Thread

Well then. Switch back to 433 really opened ARG up and gave Messi a little space to work in. They look pretty damn good right now.

Re: World Cup '14 - Official Thread

It's pretty shocking how poor the depth is in the Argentina midfield. When I was growing up it seemed like they constantly had a stream of guys like Veron, Simeone, Zanetti, etc. Now their best midfielder has spent the majority of the past 3 years on the wing and their second best has played almost ...

Re: World Cup '14 - Official Thread

I know that Argentina is without Higuain and Gago but this 532 seems like a pretty conservative decision for a favorite.

Amazing how much confidence Drogba gives them. Wonder why he didn't start.

Re: World Cup '14 - Official Thread

They've actually looked pretty good in the last 20 minutes or so. End product sucks though. Wonder when we'll see Drogba. Bony's been active, so maybe they sacrifice someone else. Regardless would be surprised if they don't get at least one goal. Japan needs another to win, I think.

Re: World Cup '14 - Official Thread

Is Soloman Kalou the worst player ever or is that just me? I have literally never seen him do anything even marginally decent. It's all heavy touches and moon rockets.

That's about as good as two touches can be.

Love Yaya, but Ivory Coast are always so underwhelming.

Re: World Cup '14 - Official Thread

In fact they've had to rely on an own goal to even get on the score sheet.

And Oscar with goal of the tournament.

Edit: love the toe. Not goal of tourny material but great savvy.

Instead they go deeper and bring more of passer on. Interested to see where Hernanes fits on this team. Space could open up for Croatia if they decide to attack a little more often.

Brazil should take Hulk off. He's doing nothing. Could use close control of Bernard or the directness of Willian instead.

When he made the final drive and his leg obviously seized up I knew he wasn't coming back in. With the amount of time left on the clock there was virtually nothing they could have done to get him back in. He had obviously had smaller, less severe cramping earlier, and the escalation would have kept ...

Re: 2013-14 NBA PLAYOFFS

If you have ever played a somewhat competitive game and gotten heat-induced cramps you know. If not you don't. It's a real thing that took me out of a high stakes game, and generally they happen late in the game for what should be obvious reasons. The fact that this guy who has won the past two titl...

Re: Which of these QBs will have a better career?

Manziel. He has an "it" factor that the other guys don't have. The modern NFL QB has to be able to improvise, unless you're a first ballot HOFer, and JF can do that with the best of them. Will he throw some bad picks? Yeah. But will he put your team in a position to win on a regular basis? I think s...

Wanted Easley on the Hawks despite the injuries. Dudes tape is ridiculous.

That said this draft is breaking well for Seattle. Lots of good WRs and OL left.

Arya stays gettin sonned by The Hound.

Also, some really good killings in this one. Lil Bran Bran forcing PTSD on Hodor was a good look, and who doesn't love a sword through the back of the skull and out the mouth?

Re: NFL Off-season Thread

Browner can be pretty stiff and get lost in coverage from time to time, but he does have a knack for creating turnovers. That said, the Seahawks gave his position to Byron Maxwell when both Browner and Thurmond got suspended and saw an immediate improvement. I guess I'm not saying he's not good, but...
