check out some dexter gordon and bobby hutcherson. i dig the hell out of that shit. one of my favorite jazz albums is bobby hutcherson oblique.....my copy is scratched to shit and i cant find it anywhere but the mix of his vibes with herbie hancocks piano on that album is fucking beautiful.

you might not necessarily pick up on the blues influences, because they dont reach directly back. but being that early metal is inspired by a harder version of rock ie sabbath, zeppelin, etc it is influenced from original rock roots. at the end of the day there is no metal if the stones are influenc...
