Re: movies that everyone hates but you love or that grew on
Howard the Duck - I haven't seen it in about 25 years, but I remember finding it hilarious when I was little UHF - I have known exactly 3 people in my life who have seen this, and they all hated it (small sample size and all). I do not speak to any of these people anymore Anyone who doesn't recogni...

Yeah that's the general consensus. The actors playing Clark/Darden/Cochran fucking killed.
Its pretty amazing that two massive OJ shows were put out in the same year and that they were both pretty incredible for different reasons.

Re: Train to Busan
I think this is the best zombiefilm since REC. Y/N, anyone? Maybe? Zombieland and Dead Snow I and II are the only films that come to mind that could rival it, imo. I wouldn't necessarily rank any of them higher than the other. Rec is superior to all of the movies up for consideration. + La Horde. T...

Was not happy about Rian Johnson's involvement in writing and helming the upcoming film and this title doesn't exactly fill me with much confidence. Still, I'm hoping my fears are wrong and it's better than The Force Awakens. Yeah I have similar doubts about Johnson, think he's overrated AF. He dir...

Criterion put out the original run of 25 movies. There's a 26th movie from 1989 thats not part of the set.
There are about 100 Zatoichi television episodes. They're about an hour long each and Katsu is in them. Tokyo Shock released a bunch of sets on dvd way back

Found it really muddled and very self-indulgent, tbh. This weird juxtaposition of your quintessential seventies era paranoia thriller mixed wit...

Zatoichi Vs Yojimbo and Incident at Blood Pass are fucking great.
I finished watching all the Ichi movies last year. Its amazing how consistently awesome they are.
I'm starting to work my way through the TV series now. Wish someone like Criterion would reissue them on blu-ray.

Really like the Phillies signing of Michael Saunders. They've done a good job with offseason veteran pickups (Buchholz, Kendrick, Benoit, Neshek). All have small upsides with mid-season trade value.

Sneaky Pete sounds interesting, Ribisi has always been a really talented actor, he just wasted much of his career on bad roles.

I've been eyeing that Wild East release of And God Said to Cain for a while now. Have to bump that up the purchase queue. Speaking of spaghetti's, I watched the new Arrow release of Requiescant (aka Kill and Pray). Arrow did a great job with it, the transfer is beautiful but I was a bit underwhelmed...

Re: Blade Runner 2049 (Villeneuve, Gosling & Ford)
Well they got the look right at least. I feel pretty good about this with Villenueve at the helm and the same writer as the original. Blade Runner is one of the all-time great examples of world building, but the threads holding it together are pretty loose and vague, so there should be plenty of roo...

Yeah I don't know about other people, but personally I never expect anyone to come up with an inspiring design for aliens.
Alien did it best and almost everything since has been a lame derivative of that design, with a few minor exceptions such as E.T., Predator and Chewbacca.

I can't even imagine how long a Tarkovsky adaptation of it would've been. Fixed. Saw this last night and thought it was really great. Can't fucking wait for Villeneuve's Blade Runner now.
