Re: New A Tribe Called Quest Album
Solid Wall of Sound, Kids, We The People, Ego...just some of the ones I'm feeling after only a few listens. It's quite an amazing album. And definitely good timing with the release. I can't quite say yet how We Got It From Here compares to And the Anonymous Nobody, though I think just the fact that ...

Genuinely excited and happy for Glover. About time he got that action movie shine time and this is well deserved. The work on Atlanta has been inarguably brilliant too.

"Izzo" as a standalone single/pop song has aged very well 15 years later. Never forget.

Re: De La Soul - and the Anonymous Nobody
Observations on second listen: I can probably do without "Drawn" and "Nosed Up." The skits are fine though I wish i knew who was acting in them. I liked the Teenage Fanclub collab with De La in Judgement Night, so "Lord Intended" sounds pretty stellar to these ears. Hearing Usher is reassuring, perh...

Really impressive album on first listen. I'm quite glad this was made. Worth all the hype too.

Ah, ok. Totally understood .
Couldn't help but feel a bit pained watching Yelchin in his scenes. Hard to think how they can go forward without Chekhov, or another one. He was so, so good.

Re: Star Trek: Beyond (Dir. Justin Lin)
It felt more like a TV show episode on a big budget than an event movie, but I'm not mad at that. yeah. The whole episodic vs. cinematic argument seems to never end. movies that feel like tv/streaming shows and tv/streaming shows that play out like movies. the action blockbusters suffer this revers...

Samantha Bee has been phenomenal. John Oliver for sure has become standard bearer. I actually was quite impressed with the post-Orlando response from Trevor Noah. I've been lukewarm to him for the most part, but every now and again he shines. My wife loves him, and so I watch. Good writing team. Oth...

Ah! This is where everyone is. I posted in the rick rubin thread wondering why it was so quiet. That this is the first single is quite confusing. However, I also felt that "Frontier Psychiatrist" was out of place rhythmically with the rest of Since I Left You , wondering how a whole album could poss...

Re: Those Last Two Tribe Albums
Just seeing this thread. Definitely have thoughts. BR&L was a fine album, but not a great Tribe record. TLM was a huge disappointment either which way you put it, Tribe or whomever. Did Jive ever manage to sell off all of its "Limited Editions?" Everywhere you looked, five, seven, ten years after th...
