Going to a party vs Going to a rap show
I can't make a poll on here, so maybe one of the moderators can fix this so that it's a poll.
Let's say you have one night a week to go out (like most people do). Do you use that night to go see a rap show, or to go to a spot with a good DJ?

I go to more rap shows than I go out to djed parties. Up until a couple years ago I'd say I went to more parties, but these days I generally don't go out unless it's a special occasion or a dope show.

Rap show.
Don't enjoy DJs switching records every 30 seconds, playing regaeton remixes, Fat Man Scoop records and R&B with rap guest verses and a bunch of quasi-homo kids simultaneously trying to be tough and acting fruity as hell dancing to snap music.
or alternately a bunch of white kids standing and staring at some overly technical nerd as he plays through DWICK-Come Clean-Mass Appeal for the 70 millionth time with the only women in the place being either taken or annoying ass poetry chicks.
I'd go to a house party with a good selection before any of em, whether the selection wass hiffop or not.

I'm sayin ..at least in Philly / NYC there are plenty of DJ's who fall into neither category, who just spin dope music. As for someone who posted earlier, do you go out for the booze or the music? I would figure heads would want to go out just to hear some good music and get their groove on.
Are there a lack of DJ's in your area that just play "good" music and stay away from the trendy or played out joints?

Yeah, pretty much. The Hip-Hop clubs around here are really corny. But I'm also not a fan of the club atmosphere, dress codes, paying that much for drinks etc. It's not my scene. If there was a really awesome joint that had a good atmosphere, played dope music and had reasonable prices I'd hit it up in a second but as is, the club scene is a hasstle and a half around here.DJPrimetime wrote: Are there a lack of DJ's in your area that just play "good" music

When I used to hang with guys who seriously had the gift of gab, no doubt house party anytime.
Flowin to freestyles was as fun as beating on my one corny friend who insisted on remaining in any cypher, even though he was horrible - thought he was dope as long as he rhymed every third line with "What the blood clot". The benefits of being the weed man I guess.

Unfortanently...living in Dayton, Ohio there aren't many parties where there will be a DJ, let alone a good one.
I love a good show in a small bar. Not a big fan of huge concerts anymore.
But if I can go to a house party with someone playin dope hip-hop that would be dope. But catchin some of your fav artists in concert really can't be beat.

I'll take a party with my friends over a rap show.
its nice because a couple of them DJ and are usually looking for a chance to spin instead of get drunk... so we let them have at it.
rap shows in ohio are mostly boring.
people just stand there.
in fact, I've kind of grown to dislike concerts these days.
doing nothing for me.
