SIghs..more east coast bias from De La's most overrated release. While Andre 3000 took Southern lyricism to another abstract level and Big Boi held down the streets so Andre and his fucked up gear didn't float away.

I used to love Outkast when I was im my mid-teens, but somewhere along the way, I wrote them off as complete and utter faggots. I haven't listened to them since 1997 or thereabouts.

De La Soul is my favorite group, but I never liked "Buhloone Mindstate". I think that Shorty kills that album for me (she's just way too fucking annoying). I actually like the b-sides and remixes associated with that album a hell of a lot more:

I'll include "Fallin" off of the Judgement Night Soundtrack, too. I always thought that it was an incredible track, concept-wise.

I voted for De La out of respect, but I ain't trying to hear any of it outside of a select few tracks.

ATLiens....one of the most original and cohesive hiphop albums I've ever heard. And no one from De La is fucking with Andre or Big Boi on the mic (at least in their early days).

I'm going to say there would be no incredible andre 3000 verses on ATLiens without Pos' contributions to lyric writing... I see a possible influence between the two.

I just prefer the heavy jazz sampling... this record feels like the peak of Native Tongues for me, even though Pos addresses NT disputes... but it seems like everything NT was trying to achieve especially tribe and de la with sampling culiminates with this record.

Always thought that Buhloone Mindstate was deservedly underrated and no where near as dope as De La is Dead and Stakes is High. Sue me, but I think the first AOI album is as good as Buhloone. It might not be as musically adventurous, but it's consistent and flows really well.

ATLiens wins this but it would have gotten merked if it went up against Stakes is High.

AOI was complete trash compared to BMS. BMS was Prince Paul in his prime. Ego Trippin, Breakdawn, Patti Duke, I Am & En Focus are some of the best De La tracks ever. AOI was good given their age and the time in hip-hop, but to compare is like saying Myjah and Kim Kardasian are in the same league.
