i think the song is fine, nothing too crazy, but the beat is pretty hype

i'd say he's ripping southern rap trends in general, not merely 'a milli'. minimalism and chopped vocal sample hooks = southern shit for years now

it will sound really great in a club

i'd rank it similarly to "blue magic", probably one of about five songs i've really enjoyed by jay-z in the past few years

It's just a cool track to bump. Nothing more, nothing less.

Thanks for the dirty.

I would rather hear State Prop on this beat instead. And Sean really should quit rapping (yes :sluggo:)

This will really bump hard in the club, much like A Millie. Also B.Ware, you gotta admit, the bassline is a blatant rip of A Millie's. Maybe not EXACTLY the same, but the overall sound is. The fact the majority acknowledges this also says something. You're right to compare it to Cool Kids, cause it's similar s well.

Overall, I like this. It's unconventional Jay-Z, but good nontheless.

You can't really claim a screwed hook and 808s is ripping someone off.

That's half the singles coming out these days.
Whether to Jason of Philaflava or John Podesta, I will speak my fucking perspective openly

I agree Icon and balzac, it does have a similiarity to A Milli. Don't see how thats not recognized. Not bad but I've heard better from Jay-Z of course.

got this in my inbox this morning:
Billboard.com

Although it's unclear if they will produce the entire album, Kanye West and Dion "No I.D." Wilson are hard at work making tracks for Jay-Z's "Blueprint 3," according to West's management.

West and Jay-Z debuted one of their collaborations, "Jockin' Jay-Z," last week during West's Glow in the Dark tour stop at New York's Madison Square Garden.

No I.D., who, like West, is a Chicago producer, started his career in the early 1990s and is best known for his work with Common. He also works closely with Jermaine Dupri's label, So So Def, as a co-producer.

Def Jam has not yet announced a release date for "Blueprint 3," Jay-Z's last studio album for the company before he begins recording for Live Nation.

The comparison still makes absolutely no sense to me. I can grant that the use of the 808 thump is vaguely reminiscent. There's nothing else about the beat that's similar. By that standard you could claim that every beat from the south is biting another beat from the south, etc. Very loose basis for comparison.

It's a cool album, this is a good song. People can still talk about how Jay has fallen off lyrically/delivery-wise. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Production has carried his recent work. But if you're referring to people that are outright hating this shit then yeah.

there are only 4 musical elements to this song.
1. the run chopped up sample (similar to the phife chopped up sample. granted it doesn't go the whole song)
2, the drums (not 808, so theres one difference)
3. bassline (exactly like a milli. pretty sure thats an 808 bass kick)
4. guitars (theres another difference)

50% is enough to call them SIMILAR.
OMG TEHY HAS 808 KICK DRUMZ AND A RAPH SAMPLE, ITZ DE SAME BEATERZ

this is alright. not as great the live version.

LOL Wayne @ the stupid A Milli comparison.

If you wanna compare this to any Wayne songs then it has far more in common with Money On My Mind or Ova Here Hustlin'.

Actually, Tell Me When To Go by E40 & Keak would be the best comparison here since it's a fairly minimal old school sounding 808 beat with a Run Dmc sample during the hook.

More than one person can be wrong about something.

Like I bet more than one person on here thinks the capital of Australia is Sydney.

It's Canberra bitches.

being wrong about a fact is one thing.

no one can be wrong about a musical opinion.

thats why music arguments never go anywhere.

like this one.
