Philaflava's Hall of Fame #15

Post by Philaflava »

Philaflava Hall of Fame

Much like they do in sports, we're going to have voting for 5 candidates and the highest vote getter will be inducted. Each poll will contain 5 candidates, some worthy and some not so much. Despite some polls containing more than a few worthy candidates only one will advance per poll. The point is to vote for the one most deserving. There will be some arguments and some insults but the point is to vote for the best in group.

I'll be keeping track of each poll and the end of each year you'll see who we've inducted. The list will be what artists will aspire to be apart. 48 rappers/producers/DJ's will be inducted yearly and you will be the one making it happen.

Inductees:
Round 1: The Bomb Squad
Round 2: RZA
Round 3: Ice-T
Round 4: Kool Keith
Round 5: Masta Ace
Round 6: The Pharcyde
Round 7: Showbiz
Round 8: Kool Herc
Round 9: Large Professor
Round 10: Redman
Round 11: Big Pun
Round 12: Souls of Mischief
Round 13: M.O.P.
Round 14: E-40

Yeah, thought it would be between skeltah and Facts, surprised the Liks got so many votes. Not sure why I didn't go Artifacts, but I really love Nocturnal.

Das EFX might not be the same kind of lyricists as the others but they've made just as many enjoyable albums if not MORE.

Peeps don't give those bastards enough props. Hold It Down > your favorite album.

I do agree with most of what you're saying. I think the remixes for songs off of "Hold It Down" make their case even stronger.
For the record, it was down to Das and Artifacts for me. But the impact that the Artifacts dropping had on me and the heads I grew up with was not forgettable.
Das Efx also had a tremendous impact when they debuted and did have more than one good album.
But that Artifacts video was the clincher for me.

going back to old das efx isn't very good lets be honest. very nursery rhyme-ish on dead serious. hold it down is quite good, but my favorite is sewaside.

likwit crew > hit squad

I agree

but there's no way the most solid Das Efx album isn't more consistent and aging better than both Artifacts albums.

Das Efx b-sides and remix catalogue is unfuckwitable.

Anyone who votes Alkaholiks or Freestyle Fellowship is teh ghey.

To Zsa Zsa, to yibbedy-yabba dabba hoochie koochie

save for mic checka and maybe 2 other joints, not sure how anyone over 18 can seriously enjoy listening to those songs anymore

*edit* from dead serious i'm talking about.

i still listen to sewaside and hold it down every once in a while

Thought Thun had made this post at first. Didn't know what was going on.

Voted Artifacts slightly over Heltah Skeltah.

Never really listened to Das EFX beyond their first album. Might check for Hold It Down now, though.

lol @ the ppl voting by region

if you're from the west coast you're voting liks (most likely, since ff is more for foreign listeners than american ones no offense jaz)

if you're from the east, you gotta choose between three groups that dropped gems. it's terrible i had to vote against a group that made 'dah shinin' which is one of my all-time favorite albums

but c'mon...with the c'mon...get down...with the get down
