thats right Ardamus, because one thread about Kanye West is EXACTLY the same as a thread about producers/MC's like Large Pro, Quik, KRS, etc.

but I digress. you are doing a fantastic job policing our state, plus the other thread was fuckin boring.

More Producers/MC's - Shock G! Although I hold him (nh) in high regards, I don't think he made major changes to the hiphop movement, since no one else put on fake body parts and acted like someone else.

But still, he's a major player.

My favorite emcee/producer at the moment is Oh No.

Black Milk
Cricet
Dj Quik
Blu
Soopafly
Double K
Madlib

And I don't mind Alchemist on the mic even though a lot y'all don't.

He was making beats in the mid 90's, was he emcee'ing?
I'm not being smug, it's an honest question.
Yeah, but he got known as a producer first.

My personal favorite.

He was first established as a rapper, but wound up being responsible for a
good amount of dope production, from a few choice cuts on Ultra's "Four
Horsemen" album to Screwball records.

I didn't realize this. I always thought he was a producer who decided to get
on the mic in the 2000 era. Thanks.

RZA's way too incosistent with the lyrics. I'm more surprised when a hear a good verse from him than when I hear a bad one.

My choice for both, Count Bass D. No one else that has been mentioned has done it as consistently and for the length of time.

No love at all for Tonedeff? He is an incredibly skilled and well rounded emcee, and has made some great beats as well.

It's hard to say who falls under each category. For instance, most probably started as an MC, because it's easier to get started that way, but got their big break from producing records. My favorite would probably be DOOM. He's extremely dope at both and is very consistant..

Tonedeff is dope, but lets be honest, every rapper/emcee in this discussion so far is way more popular or has a bigger fanbase than tonedeff. I'm a fan, and I know he has lots of loyal minions across the globe, but he is not that well known outside of his usual circles for production.

True but he also doesn't have the catalog as a Quik, Daz, Diamond D or Kanye so it's hard to even compare.

The thread you locked was a really good thread. Should be unlocked IMO. It's based off of this topic but totally different discussion. Really good posts and a good read in there. That's all.
