Rough ass beat with female singer

Post by chickenbone »

This a rough mix from a new project I am working on with a female singer. It is not exactly hip hop but I sequenced it on my piece of shit ASR-X red box. Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

sounds cool. needs a consolidation though; 5 is pushin it.
it sucks to do but you'll prolly just have to pull a verse.

chickenbone, i really enjoyed your beat on 'utah' from KVP2. shit is nice.

this however, i'm not a real big fan of. i like the intention, but the execution isn't very intriguing. the female lead is pretty middling and the instruments (which i can't tell are real or not, which is a good thing) are a little lacking. that's all i can say.

I don't want her looks to overshadow the song but here is one of her better pics. 84 met her....he can cosign she's a dime.

Thanks for the good feedback ya'll. I definitely hear ya on all points. The finished product will hopefully be more interesting and in pocket.

I would rather get better takes of the vocals but wouldn't mind autotune to clean some shit up. Does anybody have an autotune plugin that is compatible with Nuendo 3? (I am a complete fucktard with technology...any help would be greatly appreciated....seriously fuckers...help....I promise I will use it sparingly)

Qwalms- Thanks a lot for the "utah" compliment.

huh.

this could be really, really good. needs a couple new harmony choices, and a little less laconic disaffection from the lead. the drums feel a little too whitensnakey to me, too.

that said, tweak it and you might could have something to make the pitchforkers all agog.

thanks for sharing, appreciated.
got more records than god.

www.myspace.com/tayoisnt is where i show how i use 'em.

I'm digging this here, the kinda off singing really adds to the uneasy atmosphere here, but you keep the rhythms consistent which makes the whole piece cohesive, with a catchy semi-hook that also acts as kind of a glue btw I like the drum kit you used here, is it live or is it just a drum machine?

"the drums feel a little too whitesnakey to me"

lollers

Damn homie, that's what I am all about....The drums can NEVER be too whitesnakey for me.

Sequenced drums....will be adding some live ones hopefully.

Thanks again fellers...
