D-Nice - True Hip-Hop Stories Appreciation Thread

Post by Philaflava »

If you aren't hip you need to get. TROY has been posting these videos as they come. Take out an hour of your day and watch some of these. I'd buy this if he ever decided to drop these on DVD.

Word. I always liked Derrick Murphy but he is just so likable and humble its hard not to like him even more after that interview.

It's crazy how closely his normal speech resembles his rapping (and vice versa).

Everyone except Monie Love was very down to earth and humble in these videos.

One of the most touching interviews for me was of the homeless MC. Never seen another artist in the industry reach out to someone in a situation like that. D-Nice is the man.

Love these.

Kane's story about how he built the Half Steppin track sample by sample with objections by Marley Marl (for fear of overproducing it) is particularly eye-opening.

Yes, I have been checking for these since he started. D-Nice is also an accomplished DJ obviously as well as a great photographer. I believe I saw on FB that he is doing these type of interviews with R&B singers now as well. He had a great old school R&B mix on his website a couple of years back shit was a lovely BBQ mix.

Fuck Sadat X and all the mediocre attempts at recreating One for all (or Resurrection or Return of the Boom Bap or Jewelz ) magic. Niggas need to retire.

And who the fuck gives a fuck about Special Ed in 2010 ?

Seriously if you have been rapping in 1995 you need to quit like ASAP (Raekwon excluded).

EDIT: Just sayin', no Harry Hater.

Resolved Question
Does Biggie Smalls hate HipHop???

"Shoulda been a cop, Fukc Hiphop"

I've been wondering what he meant by this.
Additional Details
Rap sucks, HipHop is better

Naw, he likes hip hop and rap. He was just referring to if he hadn't started rapping he would've been a cop.
So he's cursing it, not that he doesn't like it, just for the sake of it.

With the exception of Earl this pretty much applies to all rappers.
