I dunno man, that Bun B track wasnt even Primo's best this year. Sounded kind of rushed and unfinished. Hopefully they'll do something proper in the future.

Fat Joe 'Im Gone' slays it.

100% disagree, it was the combo of Bun and Premo that made it for me, Fat Joe is garbage these days.

it was more the fact that the sample didnt sit right on the drums, it didnt sound mixed down/mastered properly, the lack of a decent scratch/hook on the chorus and the phoned in lyrics that meant it didnt really do it for me. Joe's track was solid (as was 'That White' with Preme from a couple of years back)

I'm pretty sure I know what it sounds like just by looking at the cover.

pale attempt to recapture the classic 90s essence of hip hop?

Serious question, not baiting:

Is there anything to be gained by listening to Damu's album that can't be achieved by listening to Pete Rock & CL Smooth's The Main Ingredient?

If you enjoy beats that are crafted well, layered and nice samples and have smooth melodies and sound like something from the mid 90's then you will enjoy Damu The Fudgemunk.

Serious answer.

That Damu LP in my list is all older beats by the way.

No Kanye, no lookie.

I have to agree with DLG, hell it's bad even for an indie list.

Qwel & Maker, Shad, Jay, Curren$y, Big Boi, The Roots, The Left, ....

Actually there are only two lists there but both a pretty bad.
Resolved Question
Does Biggie Smalls hate HipHop???

"Shoulda been a cop, Fukc Hiphop"

I've been wondering what he meant by this.
Additional Details
Rap sucks, HipHop is better

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters
Naw, he likes hip hop and rap. He was just referring to if he hadn't started rapping he would've been a cop.
So he's cursing it, not that he doesn't like it, just for the sake of it.

Lol no Kanye, no lookie?...why did you check it then? and Shad and Curren$y?...best of the year? haha.

Qwel and Maker was dope, but I listened to the others album a lot more, if you used your eyes you would have seen Maker listed as a top producer.

The Left is a dope album, but again I listened to the others album a lot more and I did list Apollo Brown as a top producer as well if you bothered to look.

 You know, Thun is actually almost spot on with his observation. I think some mutal friends of mine and his that know him had this same conversation. Still, Damu is dope and makes some good shit.

Damu hate? Before I went on hiatus from the P, this place loved throwback shit. Now it's all about tumblr rap and marble mouth MCs.

Thank god for borks.

making throwback rap and being boring as fuck are not mutually exclusive concepts

in fact, they often go hand in hand

plenty of other throwback stuff gets love on here

Yeah I wasn't trying to suggest that the resemblance to Pete Rock and CL Smooth made it bad per se, just wondering what else Damu has to offer besides channeling his influences. For what it's worth, I like imitation Pete Rock and CL smooth if it's done well. I've had enough of Gang Starr and Native Tongue imitations, though.

Not as much as it used to, but I'm just talking shit and sticking up for Damu who gets called boring a lot, but has to be one of the cleanest producers out there. Match him up with more exciting MCs than Insight (I think Insight is dope, I'm assuming a good chunk disagree) and I think he would get more love.

I wish he had the rights to release the album with OC.

As far as I know, he pretty much works exclusively with Insight. Otherwise he's making instrumental shit. And Insight is too skilled to be boring.. no one doing "throwback rap" these days has the skill to make a track like "Seventeen Emcees".
