Songs that make fun of other genres of music (or rap)

Post by Galvatron78 »

I would have to say that House music took a beating in the late 80's early 90's with the whole "hip-house" phase. My favorite examples would have to be

- "Kicked out the House" - De La House

- "Get the fuck out of my house" - 2 Live Crew

- "Escape from Quad City" - Female Rapper and Former Member of 95 South named "K-Knock", she lampooned 95 South's "Booty Shake Raps" perfectly.

- "Who do you believe in" - De La Soul (spoofing satanic heavy metal)

feel free to add on.....

Um, maybe Masta Ace's Slaughtahouse, poking fun or mocking west coast rappers? Possibly the version of CNN's LA LA, with Trag, I think, doing the fake west coast accent, too.

Jeru's Da Bullshit?

Can't think of other genres, just rap related.

Kool Keith: I wore a straw hat with a feather to the last Source Awards. When I got to Madison Square Garden everybody was looking at me. When I got back home I seen everybody and their mother in their video wearing a fuckinג€™ straw hat with a feather in it.

Tim Dog: ג€œWhat Kool Keith gonna wear? Iג€™m gonna do that shit in my video. Iג€™m gonna wear that shit really quick. Whatג€™s Tim Dog gonna wear?ג€

I feel like Mountain Bros. and Ras Kass had songs making fun of late 90s "jiggy" club bangers.

Not in this case, because even on his crossover attempts his lyrics were good.

This is still funny as Hell after so many years. Brother Marquis sounds like he's having a seizure.

I always took the Mtn Bros song as more homage than parody. It's been a while since I've heard it last, but IIRC it was played pretty straight.

I also remember a song Prince Paul did with Chris Rock like that, seemed like it was dead-aimed at the Puffy high-class flossin' bullshit. There was a video for it and everything lol

Then I remember a song by Naughty by Nature that came out about a year ago called "Get To Know Me" that seemed to be a parody of today's mainstream Hip Hop because the sound of it was nothing like what they did before and after it. People were moaning and groaning online about it, trashing the song left & right, lol

The ultimate rap parody IMHO:

<object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/hblAppO67Ig?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/hblAppO67Ig?fs ... n_US&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="390"></embed></object>

It makes me laugh every time I hear it, "YO! Who the fuck used my toothbrush!"

And I've always wondered about the end of the Beatnuts "Story (Pinky In The Twat)", after 3 minutes of filth a fruity voice shouts "KILL THE PRESIDENT! KILL HIM! FUCK HIM!" Is this a dig at "social conscience" rappers?

Prince Paul is the king of this shit.

My Favorite:
Resident Alien - Alone
Hilarious Reggae spoof. Dope too!
<object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/QC-a4LfEcIA?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QC-a4LfEcIA?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="390"></embed></object>

Prince Paul - I Want You (I'm an 80s Man)
Off of Itstrumental. Self explanatory. Not on the Youtubes, but here's a Grooveshark link.
http://listen.grooveshark.com/s/I+Want+ ... b1RZ?src=5

The Dix - Tears In My Eyes (Dirty Girl)
Group consisted of Prince Paul, Mr Len, Mr Dead and Don Newkirk.
More making fun of hip hop crooning.
<object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/7kPsGNLaSMo?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/7kPsGNLaSMo?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="390"></embed></object>

Prince Paul - J.O.B. (Das What Dey Is)
Havin a go at Schooly D (And as a result, Eazy E who is just an unintentional parody of Schooly)
<object width="480" height="390"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/s4ApxJ3NNBs?fs ... ram><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/s4ApxJ3NNBs?fs=1&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="390"></embed></object>
