in some ways, this is better than both pilot talks

shorter length guarantees less filler so there's no drag (i actually wish it was longer). guest features fare better than most from either pt 1 pr 2, not featuring his two weedcarriers or that random insufferable girl is a great advantage

You are tripping...at least as far as PT1 goes.

I like this but there is no song as good as Roasted, Audio Dope II, The Day or Prioritize.

The beats are also not of that caliber.

As do I, I probably like most of this better than Prioritize.

Agreed that no tracks as good as the Day and Audio Dope II. I'd also put Address in that group too.

Yes, and then I referred to specific reasons why I thought that you were wrong in your overall assessment.

You said the EP was better than the albums because the shorter length meant less filler and higher quality guest spots.

I responded that the EP was inferior because the best material on the first album was so much better than anything on the EP and that same album had far better beats.

What's the confusion, exactly?

Agree to disagree on Roasted. I love that song.

Well, I clearly liked that album for different reasons from you guys.

Life Under The Scope and Address are both good tracks but nowhere near my favorite tracks. I like the more intense stuff, I guess.

The mood on Address, or LUTS are both laid back and kinda airy. They are chill, "loungey" tracks.

Audio Dope and The Day are a little more agressive. Not MOP or anything but just a mood other than poolside-with-spliff-on-sunday-afternoon.

Admittedly, Prioritize, Roasted, and another favorite, Breakfast, are more laid back but I feel like the lyrics and delivery are just better than address or LUTS.

If those are your two favorite songs on PT1, then we probably prefer different types of Curren$y songs.

Good thing he didn't try... that's one of my favorite tracks on the ep though. Matter of fact, all the guest appearances on this ep are pretty dope.

I like that the majority of songs are less than 3 minutes and the whole ep is less than 30; definitely increases replay value. The whole thing is just really concise and well-constructed. Al did a nice job complementing Spitta's laid back delivery with airy production, while still keeping that signature sound of his. I also appreciate how Curren$y switched up the cadence on Smoke Break.

Listened through twice, can't pick a favorite track yet.

Prodigy's verse changed my life

edit: just hearing this in my headphones for the first time on a nature walk(aka high) and these beats are great. this is the Alchemist i want to hear right now.

he's been on autopilot for like 3 or 4 years now and i had to dig hard to find a beat i really liked by him but he really outdid himself on this project.

Word. He had a few beats here and there that I liked and the Prodigy tape he did awhile back was dope, but nothing really stuck. I was listening to this in my car and it sounds great. I'm a Curren$y mark, but you could've had some herb like Evidence on these beats and I would still be listening to this shit over and over.

this shit is crazy, i'm really feeling the production on this. you would think for a free mixtape like this maybe Alc wouldn't bring his A-game but damn was i wrong. Gibbs and P outshine Curren$y badly tho.

if they would've thrown another 3 cuts on this making it 40 minutes i wouldn't mind buying this on CD at all

I recently got into Pilot Talk, I was sleeping for a while on it.

But this shit is ridiculous. He sounds real good over ALC tracks. Hopefully they do more work together. This shit is quality.

You didn't like his work on Gutter Water? I thought he changed his production style on that a lot and the beats were great. He's had the occasional beat on other albums that I liked a lot (Surgical Gloves).

Covert Coup isn't that remarkable to me but it is for sure above average and a dope little record. Alchemist's beats fit Curren$y very well. They have a spacey feel to them, not like El-P spacey, but very clean with some thick samples and they have a nice slow rhythm for dude to rap over. Curren$y isn't that great of a rapper to me but he's got an original style and sounds cool which is the most important thing imo. He sounds better over these beats than on Pilot Talk, which I found to be pretty boring to be honest. "Blood Sweat and Gears" is the best song on the EP to me.

Yea this is really good.

I also feel that This Aint No Mixtape is better than PT. Best debut album in a decade plus. PT2 is on a different level though.

I dont check much for modern day hip-hop/rap, but Curren$y grabs my attention for some odd reason.

This EP is bananas though. ALC definitely did his thing on this one. Love his use of overused samples, but he definitely gives them his own twist. Loving this!

** Is the 'Fiend' thats on this EP the same Fiend from No Limit? Just wondering

Gutter Water just bored the hell out of me...i cringe every time Alc raps and honestly i never even looked at the production credits for that to know which ones he actually did..

the project itself just didnt interest me enough...i liked a couple songs but overall i still felt like nothing really stood out.
