The minute he hooked up with Redman his career officially ended.
kinda strange...i'm sure in his mind he thought it was his big break...whata u think happened?
Redman hasn't been right since the mid 90s.
:larry: gonna haveta respectfully disagree with you there...that live from the bricks mixtape in like 2006/7 or whatever was HEATTTTTT!!! I wasn't all the mad at the blackout part 2 either...

First of all, I respect being able to make music 15 years but this isn't the NBA--being in the game 15 years isn't super difficult, especially when you don't sell records for 13 of them. Channel Live still make records! Expectations were high after his verse on "Just Step (Give Up The Goods)". I like his Tommy Boy album but most people don't give a shit. And all those Landspeed albums or whatever shit he's released lately... Even the most die hard rap fans would struggle to name those albums.
I agree for the most part, but Queens Chronicles was pretty fucking good.

Not that i was expecting him to have some sort of great career but I was always a little let down that Al Shid didn't put out more music.

Anyone got any info on whatever happened to him?

a lot of people are missing the point and just listing rappers they liked years ago that fell off or gave up.

umm....i think that is the point...lol. I would say that falling off or giving up falls into the same category of not living up to expectations.

no, its a different thing.

if you take someone like Mic Geronimo or Big Noyd who dropped some decent music when they first came out, did anyone really have expectations that they'd go onto to greater things? They're good rappers (although coud be considered 'average' given the high standards of the 90s) but I dont think anyone can seriously say they thought they'd ever reach the levels that someone like Jay Z, Nas or MF Doom (for example) has. Someone like Mos Def or Method Man maybe had that potential though.

Yeah man, I was actually a fan of his a while back. All his guest verses on them Zone records were rugged. I was under the impression, after he dropped those solo singles, he was gonna drop a J Zone produced album.
And, at the time, I was getting tired of Zone beats and was hoping Shid would rap over different beats.

Now, I'd be pretty damn happy to hear an Al Shid album produced by J Zone.

No, it's a great record. Shit, I even like the The Love Deluxe Movement. And Prince Among Thieves has mad legendary Brewin verses too.

I suspect he'll one day resurface to drop a classic solo album before quickly disappearing again on some brown Bobby Fischer shit.

Word. Use Your Confusion is excellent, imo. Or at least about half of the tracks are unfuckwittable. Always chaps my ass(pause) when it doesn't show up on any "best LP of the 2000s" lists.

I think you mean someone else. I think he just disappeared. I can't see him going the happy go conscious route. Never know, though.

Disagree with his inclusion, as he has put out fantastic music as recently as October. Sure, he is no longer a major label artist, but that has nothing to do with his music.
