Pick your favorite movie

Post by Philaflava »

I know this isn't CYE but being that these films have been viewed by just about all of us and that they're very hip-hop influenced I thought a poll in M2C would work.

Pick your favorite, not the best.

Menace, easily.

Fresh is the best 90s 'hood flick, though.

"Fresh" is great. "New Jersey Drive" is underrated as well.

Paid In Full was the 2nd best movie of the last decade after Mulholland Drive, features the best use of In The Air Tonight in the history of cinema, and numerous quotables from it have long since been incorporated into my daily lexicon.

Voted Friday.

Juice - never been a huge fam and it hasnt aged well
8 Mile - reasonably enjoyable at the time if completely predictable but cant watch now as I hold it responsible for so many bad things that happened in the years that followed.
Menace II Society - still dope.
House Party - bit cringeworthy now but seeing as Martin Lawrence's role in this was an early influence on me wanting to DJ (alongside The GOAT Delbert Wilkins) it gets props.
Belly - never seen
Paid In Full - never seen
New Jack City - really hasnt aged well and has some insanely bad acting and dialogue (that Ice T line about his dick being hard is :pause: :pause: :pause: )

The majority of people here were introduced to the hip hop genre through this movie.

Song would have been better if Acey wrote it.
