I don't know why the .zip link on the first page isn't working, but this one should be good:

Here's another new song featuring woods- http://uncommonrecords.bandcamp.com/dow ... type=track
Song's taken from an album from Pruven which you can find for free DL at the same link through Uncommon Records. Song's not all that great, but it's another good sign that billy's working at a pretty prolific rate right now. I was bumpin' that Backwoodz mixtape all weekend.

Another new billy verse off this single from the upcoming Eleven mixtape (his verse is at 3:18). There's a verse from Elucid, and Premrock (who put out an album with Willie Green) has a nice verse too.

"Stay by myself, Darrelle Revis"
I would love to have a song from HWAM leak pretty soon, I have a feeling we're more than a month away from any news though.

My co-worker is trying to turn me into a Teddy Faley fan. Both him and Eleven sound good on this too.unclebengi wrote:Another new billy verse off this single from the upcoming Eleven mixtape (his verse is at 3:18). A lot of those guys who rap over A.M. beats are an aquired taste, but most of them have grown on me. I like V8 the best followed by Faley, both of those guys are incredibly unique and have a real perspective on the mic, even if their styles (and the beats they choose) are a little grating. Faley had a really dope song about amphetamine addiction on that A.M. album. I used to not like Eleven at all, but he's gotten a lot better the last couple years.COOLEHMAGAZINE wrote:My co-worker is trying to turn me into a Teddy Faley fan. Elucid's verse on Bank of America especially. That song is awesome. I also really like Blue Dreams now, even though at first I was not crazy about it.
Is there a tentative date set for HWAM? Or is it just "this year"?

I totally understand, I hated him for a while too. A couple songs off the A.M. Breakups album grew on me. I decided to give his solo album a chance and was very impressed. As I've mentioned before, he definitely has his own style and he sticks to it. I can only take him in small doses, but there's definitely something about his work that appeals to me. Here's a couple over different production that I really like-Haitian Jack wrote:i cant fuck wit v8 at all man

I've also dug a little deeper on Teddy Faley and found some dope shit, this EP from last year in particular-

Faley should be on Rhymesayers. He can rap, has his own style and can do the emo-rap thing without coming off corny or affected. Easier said than done. Oh yeah, and he is white, which doesn't hurt.unclebengi wrote:A lot of those guys who rap over A.M. beats are an aquired taste, but most of them have grown on me. Disappointing it's not coming this year, but good to know they'll be leaking some joints. It's probably been since Madvillain and MM...Food since I've anticipated an album this much. Cannot fucking wait to hear this shit.History Will Absolve Me - Update
In other news, History Will Absolve Me, the next upcoming solo record from Billy Woods, has been pushed back to January 2012. Yeah, it's disappointing that we can't get it to you this month but we want to make sure we do it right. We will have some leaks coming soon though, so stick by us, we promise that it's going to be worth the wait.

woods probably has a biased view of Mugabe because of his family's history in Zimbabwe, but I think that history will treat Mugabe well (at least compared to how he's viewed today). Regardless of the allegations of fixed elections, land seizure, and institutional violence, Mugabe had a vision for Zimbabwe and Africa in general. He realized the the white minority would only help Zimbabwe get where it wanted to go to a point. Refusing help from the white rule is a tough thing to do. Africa is overrun with warlords who take bribes from ruling minorites and do nothing for their people. So in a way Mugabe set his people back in the short term, but he gave them a chance to build something that is truly theirs in the long term.
The logistics of attempting something like this make it ill advised, but so is any revolution. This world keeps putting more and more control in the hands of less and less people and Mugabe will be seen as a key in trying to buck that trend.
Having said all that, I'm no expert on any of this and my knowledge base is extremely limited. I've learned as much from woods's rhymes as I have from any other source. Obviously Mugabe has his shortcomings (specifically his attitude towards gays and lesbians), but his vision and his intentions have always been good as far as I can tell.

Yeah, Chikurubi sounds like hell- http://www.tagzania.com/pt/zimbabwe-prisons/
He may be anti Mugabe after all, never really caught that "Bob's Way" reference or understood that song really I guess, good call Jack. "History Will Absolve Me" is a Castro quote, who is Mugabe's hero, so it doesn't necessarily show any admiration from woods that he associated the title with a photo of Mugabe. I'll just wait for the album and shut up.

Here's another great woods feature from Willie Green's new album with Pastense. Woods has quietly put together a solid year without any official releases. I'll put together a little comp of everything he put out this year soon- http://pastense.bandcamp.com/track/the- ... illy-woods
You can get the song for a buck or the album for 5. I'm not really a fan of Pastense, but Willie does his thing on the production tip.

Willie Green just tweeted today that History Will Absolve Me was mixed and ready to master, so I thought this would be a good time to post up a little mix of everything woods has released/appeared on in 2011. A lot of this material was probably recorded before 2011, but none of it (to my knowledge) was released before this year-
A.M. Breakups- Chapter 2 ft. billy woods & Eleven
billy woods- 23ג9ג
billy woods- Blue Dream
billy woods- Six Flags
billy woods- Shilling
billy woods- Antz ft. Vordul & Junclassic
billy woods- Bank of America ft. Elucid
billy woods- Pig Iron
billy woods- Weighting
Vordul- Imani ft. billy woods (rmx)
billy woods- Green Goblin
billy woods- Death From Above ft. Kong & Spiega
billy woods- Concussion
billy woods- Cyanide ft. Megalon
billy woods- 2 Blunts ft. Goldenchild
Pruven- Grey Matter ft. billy woods
Eleven- The Elevenocalypse ft. Hype Wonder, Teddy Faley, Esh the Monolith, Warren Britt, Premrock, Billy Woods, Elucid, & L.I.F.E. Long
billy woods- Good Times Had By All
Pastense- The Great Depression ft. billy woods
Without having an official release he managed to appear on 19 tracks this year. The majority came from his 'Best Of' mixtape and 'The Cost of Living' mixtape, but there's a handful of features/stand alone tracks. Here's the link- http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U0P76A2X

Yeah, I figured most woods heads would have heard most of these, but with the majority of his mixtape being older songs that I hear when I listen to his albums, I wanted to have a mix that would function as a catalogue of everything new that dropped in '11, glad it could serve a purpose for ya'll.
And to Kace, I posted up an interview with woods- http://www.urbansmarts.com/interviews/billywoods.htm
earlier in the thread that details his origins (in life and in hip hop).
