Personal Classics

Post by 907 »

I was talking to a friend recently about this, how everyone has a few albums that are a classic, five star/mic album, TO THEM. Shit that you think is just amazing, but you're the only person you know who feels that way about it. Illmatic, for example, is the wrong answer. I'll go first.

Brother Ali - Shadows On The Sun

I would go so far as to say that this album is in my top three for it's decade. I can't even really tell you what it is about it that I like so much. I like Ali, but he is far from my favorite rapper. I like Ant, but he has beats I like better than any on this album. Something about this record just draws me in, to the point where every time Ali puts out an album I listen to it a few times, then throw it to the side and put this back into rotation.

Its style and cohesive vision are so blatantly evident and well executed.

Scaramanga- Seven Eyes, Seven Horns

Not every song is great but the ones that are, are just unbelievable.

Megalon- Penny For Your Thoughts

One-of-a-kind gangster rap album with a soul.

Luniz- Operation Stackola

I actually think it's equal to The Chronic, as far as how much I enjoy listening to them all the way through.

Came in here to post this. I know there is a lot of Pac dislike around here but, this is by far his best album.

A couple of missteps but overall pretty damn great.

In my opinion every thing he'd been trying to do on previous releases he achieves pretty well here.

Scarface and I agree it's the best full length album Rap-A-Lot ever put out. My personal favorite rap album, every second on here is great.

I also really enjoy

and have probably listened to

more than any other rap release over the course of my lifetime.

Cormega - The Realness would be my first pick.

Whoever said O.C. - Word... Life is buggin'. It's a bonafide classic album anyway, no need to qualify it as a personal classic.

Word to Royal Flush, Scaramanga and Camp Lo

Also, Juggaknots - Clear Blue Skies (re:reissue) is my addition to this shit. I just mentioned one of these tracks in another thread, but the highs on this shit are some of the most lyrically lyrical real lyrics out there. nahmean.
