Rhymesayers Entertainment is proud to announce the release of I Self Devine's second official studio album The Sounds Of Low Class America due May 8th, 2012. The album paints a narrative of those who carry the nation on their shoulders every day and the struggles they endure.

The release will be prefaced by I Self's Culture Series, four free digital mixtapes, that drop each month from January through April. To celebrate each release, I Self Devine will perform each mixtape live, front to back at First Avenue's 7th Street Entry with a collection of special guests from around the Twin Cities.

The first mix in the series, LA State Of Mind drops this Thursday and each subsequent mix will be available on the first Thursday of each month. The fourth and final mix will be available for free download exclusively from Fifth Element with the pre-order of The Sounds Of Low Class America.

That's what I'm talking about. Rarely get excited for anything these days but this did it.

It's about time. Micranots were probably my first rap show and one of the best to do it live. Always liked I-Self and how layered his approach to rap narratives are. Really happy to hear this.

Came here to post this. I had a challenge finding a link to just download the entire album, so here's 'LA State of Mind' without the Soundclick enigma - http://bit.ly/yuCaXE

Shit's great, especially zero to 5...awesome song. Diamond Movement is greatness too. The scale of these EP's and the album is pretty epic. I Self isn't the simple rhyme type of dude who shits out mixtapes, so this level of production is pretty insane if the quality keeps up (as I'm sure it will).

Damn, Justice too...the use of the Velvet Underground sample is so nice.

pretty fucking amazing that this is only one of four MIXTAPES leading up to the album. The first mixtape is really good.

YES! the first mix-tape is great.

i wonder if the rest of the material will sound the same.

I've been hoping for new I Self material for many years too many. And this is all great news. I question a little if this is a market-flood after such a drought, but something about a gifthorse's mouth.
