yeah i've been of the opinion that he's been slept on for a minute b/c the media was obsessed w/ the cool kids when they were 'new artists' but didn't give them time to develop and figure out their sounds. chuck has been putting out some crazy beats, and michael rocks has developed into a really good rapper. To wit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68JKx66ta_s&t=2m58s
he bodies this--(jump about 3 mins in)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrZy9KXLrZQ
got a crazy ski beat on this one

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XPzgy_3zkYw
and this one

and Cardo really laced him here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ok0lQb13gxk

and 'cell dope' is too tough
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tupiJEU9aXU

he just released a new tape i haven't had a chance to check out yet

Ok so it seems The Cool Kids are the precedent for this "maybe ASAP Rocky could be good if everyone leaves him the fuck alone for a few years" argument I've been pushing. As well as the "any hook with Wassup in it is gold" one, I'm liking that song particularly.

Cell Phone makes me think Mikey could kill some of those 80s columbian villain OST beats the bays been churning out lately. Gonna have to check out that tape

Say what you will about tyler the creator but he was smart to hold off on working with indusrty vampires for a year. He only worked within his own scene and put his friends on and got a label deal where he owns his publishing and masters. Keef/chop are going to let these dried up vampires/parasites like kanye, birdman, and jeezy suck up their buzz, throw them in a dumpster and move on to the next young thing they need to consume to stay relevant.

there are other hungry artists ready to jump in wherever. no artist is bigger than the city itself

Hard to argue with that.

Apologies for stretching the thread, but it's worth it for Tenille sucking on a Chupa Chup.

this is true but tyler is also waaaaaay more charismatic (even if his music is sort of unlistenable) and he got the same type of collab requests and contract offers.

that keef does have the ability to write catchy songs would be more incentive for him to ignore the buzz suckers. I don't see how letting old man rappers use his regional hit as throwaway promo buzz for their comp is a good look for him.

I agree with that, except for the part about tyler being 'way more charismatic'

be cool if they also played some exclusives, interviews, etc. but nice to have a podcast like this about rap nonetheless

It's an absolute abomination from top to bottom and front to back.
