It's dope on a rope. Definitely top 5, but I'm not willing to say that it's better than C4C or Skelethon in the album of the year race. I am willing to say that this has been a great year for Hip-Hop. The best year in a long while yo.

Pretty fuckin' awesome.
I wrote a review for those who like those: http://hardwoodblacktop.com/2012/11/11/ ... -reloaded/
I think it's hard to evaluate it in comparison to Marcberg, which is something I attempted to do a bit, but listening to it several times I couldn't shake the feeling that this is the type of album we all wanted Nas to drop after Illmatic. Roc acknowledges his new place in the world, the dominance of his current role, but maintains his narrative brilliance, embraces lusher production and language to match his more lucrative reality. But he keeps enough in the trenches rap to let fans know he hasn't completely forgotten the hunger that birthed Marcberg, even if he can't exactly duplicate it with his belly full. Most importantly, there aren't any silly cash grabs or anything. It's all a part of the logical evolution he's gone through over the last couple years.

Re: Roc Marciano - reloaded preemtive thread
I loved the stripped down to the bone sound of Marcberg. This new album goes in another direction, which is good. I need to listen to it more to really digest it. But so far it's a great album. Roc's production is above the rest. He should have produced the whole thing.

Re: Roc Marciano - reloaded preemtive thread
Gave this a few spins this weekend and I really dig it. Pretty much agree with everything folks have said so far about Roc Marci finding his lane and building upon that lane, rather than trying anything too out-of-the-box. I'm really feeling the subtle change in his production style; if there was a common theme to this record, it would definitely be "Don Shit," whereas I felt Marcberg had a "Corner/Street Shit" kind of feel. "76" is the best track on the record, imo.
Will be jamming this through the new year and beyond.

Heavy rotation.
Re: Roc Marciano - reloaded preemtive thread
Absolutely loving this album. I have some more tracks produced by the Arch Druids, but I know nothing about those guys. Do they already have an EP or tape out or something? I know a new tape is coming soon, but they are pretty hard to google.

Re: Roc Marciano - reloaded preemtive thread
I think what makes Roc so ill is that he is better with the internal rhyme scheme than anyone right now. Except maybe Ka. Like if you look at the lyrics on paper, you think no way can that shit rhyme. Nah mean.

If rappers really must insist on rhyming over drumless productions, We Ill is how to do it.

Re: Roc Marciano - reloaded preemtive thread
The Arch Druids used to be in a group called BROTHAZ BENT and released an album back in 2007 called "Up From The Desert" and it's literally one of the best albums of the last 5 years! I think they changed their name to the Arch Druids when the lead MC (Woozy) left the group for whatever reason. Whatever the case, GET THAT BROTHAZ BENT ALBUM!! It came out on CD and Vinyl (I have both). The Arch Druids new album "Scorched Earth Policy" was scheduled for a December release, but they just pushed it back to January/February...Yohan wrote:Absolutely loving this album. Re: Roc Marciano - reloaded preemtive thread
been listening to the album on the way to work this morning and the 'no drums' thing was my only beef. I like some tracks like that but maybe not that many in a row. Album is dope still though.Balkongen Loungin' wrote:If rappers really must insist on rhyming over drumless productions, We Ill is how to do it.
also, can anyone confirm/deny that track 6 samples 'Papua New Guinea' by Future Sound Of London (if anyone on this board knows what that is) ?

I'm loving the fuck out of this album.
Flash Gordon is my current theme song.
Best album since Marcberg, easily.

I agree. And this is one of those albums you need to listen to from start to finish to fully appreciate it.step son wrote:been listening to the album on the way to work this morning and the 'no drums' thing was my only beef. Definitely sounds like it, I doubt that's actual sample source though.step one wrote:been listening to the album on the way to work this morning and the 'no drums' thing was my only beef. I streamed this once last night, dude is in some kind of zone. I was hoping to get an email from Decon with my free mp3 album download that came with the deluxe cd bundle, but no dice. Anyone else have any luck getting their free download?

Can i get a PM?
Re: Roc Marciano - reloaded preemtive thread
I've definitely been sleeping on Roc. Just ordered Reloaded. I have only heard a few songs on it, so really looking forward to hearing the whole album.
Re: Roc Marciano - reloaded preemtive thread
Shit is pretty undeniable. Loops and loops and loops! What's not to like?
Re: Roc Marciano - reloaded preemtive thread
i love a producer with confidence. one that loves their own music and knows what loops will put you in a zone...
with that said. dude knew the original Thugs Prayer was so amazing he had to drop the loop in for the end of Thugs Prayer 2....
this record is awesome!
We Ill, Pistolier....my favorites. but that's not saying much. the whole album is amazing!
