whats everyones thoughts one C-Murders Life or Death? It wouldn't be in my top 10 but it (to me) is pretty damn awesome.

I'd rather listen to TRU than solo C.

Solja Rags is better than 400 Degreez, it just had the classic singles

and the Hot Boys debut is better than both

that's up for debate. I sure listened a lot more to 400 Degreez than the others.

I also enjoy Solja Rags more than 400 Degreez.

Solja Rag, I Did That, Roll With 'Em and Pimpinabitch is one helluva succession of songs by anyone's standards. That we get treated to songs as good as Hide Out Or Ride and Money On The Couch later on is the cherry on top.

Mannie gave him the goodies and Juvie making every bar a pertinent question in the title track is still amazing:

"do you take care of your kids?
is it clean in your crib?
can you stand to eat some ribs?"

"you brush your teeth?
you on them hoes?
you got them Reebs on your feet with the Girbauds?"

I always thought Silk The Shocker was one of the worst of all time. Can someone post a song that challenges that assessment?

Wash your mouth out with soap and water, duck.

Rap circa 1997 offers no greater trifecta than P, Mystikal and Silkk on the same track together.

Master P w/ Mystikal & Silkk - Let's Get 'Em

Master P w/ Mystikal & Silkk - Always Look A Man In The Eyes

Shame that allovertheshop e-40ish magic couldnt really be captured on his solo shit though, Charge It 2 Da Game had some monsters but its hardly because of Silkk.

Im surprised its so highly rated, No Limit new jack I may be but it wouldnt even be in my top 15 NL albums. That said him being a punchline for the last decade and change is a travesty when theres long been stumblecore rapper dudes like Game floating round who're way more deserving of scorn and havent classics of this caliber

I'm a bigger No Limit fan than most, and Silkk wouldn't crack my top 15 either. That is, unless we're only talking cover arts. Then he probably has two entries.
Check out my FREE album featuring MAC LETHAL, ALASKA from HANGAR 18, HOMEBOY SANDMAN and J57 of the BROWN BAG ALL STARS -

I pretty much owned every NL release from 97 to 99...and yea Silkk wouldn't crack my top 15 either. Charge it 2 da Game was decent but not because of Silkk. I still fucks with that posse cut from it though. Mia X murdered that shit...

I've been listening to South Rap for about 22 years. No way I can compile a definitive list but ill try to make some sense.

8Ball & MJG - Comin Out Hard
Scarface - The Diary
Juvenile - Solja Rags
Project Pat - Ghetty Green
3-6 Mafia - Chapter 2 World Domination
Gangsta Pat - Deadly Verses
Hot Boys - Get It How U Live
UGK - Ridin Dirty
Tru - Tru 2 Da Game
Young Bleed - Balls and My Word

I tried no to let bias fall under one region. It would be easier for me to make state to state lists. I chose to just go with what albums I remember having the biggest impact around here. I took everything I had to omit Boosie, Mystikal, Playa Fly, Skinny Pimp, Crooked Lettaz, Tommy Wright, Dirty, UNLV, Lil Wyte, Last Mr Bigg, and so many others from TX, TN, MS, LA, GA, AL, FL.
