Re: Bay Area Thread 2012
Check out the album he did with A-Wax. past that, I can't really say I like much of any of his shit. It's just that super generic NorCal mexi/norte rap style that's just basic as fuck. that album with awax had some great tracks on it. it was kind of funny though, a white member of a mexican gang making an album with a white member of a black gang. semi-amusing to me.Echo Leader wrote:Ack this guy is dope. Would you be willing to put together a zip of what you consider to be his best shit? Or at least a list of his best shit?ackbar wrote:RIP Woodie - November 20, 1975 - March 7, 2007
A personal favorite of mine & a lot of homies (ones who are into Sac rappers especially). Incredible producer. Real gang shit w/ a lot of depressing introspection (he died by suicide). I feel like he's underrated by some who appreciate Northern Cali gangster rap online. Lo-fi classics
Re: Bay Area Thread 2012
yoc influenced & northern exposure vol. 1 are both really dope. he has a greatest hits called life stories vol. 1 that would be a good introduction

Re: Bay Area Thread 2012
i think there's songs on both tapes that stand up to that track. they make a lot of more upbeat "ratchet" type party songs too thoif that's your thing or not

That Mistah Fab "All Slaves" joint posted in this thread is really fuckin dope. Some of the best I've heard from him.
Re: Bay Area Thread 2012
Does anyone have any links for older A-Wax albums? I used to have pretty much everything he's ever put out but the hard drive I had em on recently crapped out on me so if anyone has any links, I'd be forever in your debt.

Odi I think you can find his older stuff on bay area bork blogs. Ive seena few but cant remember, I lost all my old links to those sites on my other comp.
edit: found one

You might have to go about it by searching for a different but similar artist. Look for Mob Figaz or something cause the wax in A Wax fucks up the search results.
Anybody check this yet?
Bout to give it a listen.

Re: Bay Area Thread 2012
 it wasn't terrible, just didn't really move me much. they've seemed unfocused for the last year or so, no purpose and no direction, just dropping random music. some of it has been good, but a lot of it hasn't been very memorable and that's how i felt about this one too
i liked that one Mondre/Joe Blow song more than this whole ep
