Peter Rosenberg is one of the key proponents of "bringing back ill hip-hop" and such, as if it had ever left New York to begin with. Ironically, at first glance, this tape looks to be primarily populated by OF knock-offs.

^^ it has a distinct feel of 'these are the guys i could get to contribute' as opposed to 'these are the people on the forefront of ny rap right now'
i wouldn't be surprised if there was a common thread of either legal or agent representation or some other on paper thing that links most if not all of the participants here

No Marc, Meyhem, or Coroner...
Never heard of most these guys. Aside from Bronson, Joey, ASAP, and DZA, any of them worth checking out?

Re: Peter Rosenberg Presents “The New York Renaissance”
Well, in all fairness, he does promote most of these guys on his late night radio show. Whether or not there are any underlying business dealings involved, I think these are just the kids he listens to. What's kind of weird is that may of them are KIDS. Not that I expect artists like billy woods, Elucid or Ka to appear on here, but this roster makes its seem like "moshable" rap is all NY has to offer.drizzle wrote:^^ it has a distinct feel of 'these are the guys i could get to contribute' as opposed to 'these are the people on the forefront of ny rap right now'

Which happen to be who?
Re: Peter Rosenberg Presents “The New York Renaissance”
This compilation could've been made by someone who works for Complex. It just looks like he lazily tried to put together some throwback nineties rap he recently catched up on in the tumblrsphere while riding along the latest Asap Mob craze, because if he knew about artists like Roc Marciano or Ka clearly they would've been featured on this.

Re: Peter Rosenberg Presents “The New York Renaissance”
Those aren't new names though.
I never thought I'd live to see the day where New York isn't where the best MCs come from.
Rap's Biggest Legends are there, WITHOUT QUESTION.
But the future of rap? Where you at, B?
