Re: Gunplay >>>>> Rick Ross
Tape is really good for the most part, but I do NOT need to be hearing R&B crossover attempts from Gunplay.
Re: Gunplay >>>>> Rick Ross
One of the best Gunplay "mixtapes" yet, nice and concise, doesn't suffer from lack of quality control, and the beats are more varied than the typical trappy Wakka-type bangers he usually falls back on.
Which song are you referring to as an R&B crossover attempt?

Re: Gunplay >>>>> Rick Ross
I guess "crossover attempt" is a bit strong. I'm referring to the two songs with that Peryon dude.
More of a knee-jerk reaction to hearing someone croon on a Gunplay track, tbh. I've gotten used to expecting punch-you-in-your-face type songs from the guy.

Re: Gunplay >>>>> Rick Ross
New mixtape is great. Everything Gunplay spits is worthy of interest. Bible on the Dash is easily 2012's song of the year.
Let's just hope Gunplay will stick to his winning formula when recording his solo album.

Re: Gunplay >>>>> Rick Ross
Is the "Bible on the Dash" bea taken from another song, as used to be the case with every mixtape track, or does it just sound a lot like something that's big right now? I can't tell.
Re: Gunplay >>>>> Rick Ross
Hasn't it already been on like 3 of his mixtapes? Perhaps those others were unofficial but I've had it for a year plus at this point.Versive wrote:Is the "Bible on the Dash" bea taken from another song, as used to be the case with every mixtape track, or does it just sound a lot like something that's big right now? Re: Gunplay >>>>> Rick Ross
It's definitely been out. I just feel like the beat sounds like something that's on the radio.
Re: Gunplay >>>>> Rick Ross
That's exactly the thing that came to my mind the very first time I heard that song. Google tells me that the beat is produced by the "Morris Brothers" (https://twitter.com/MorrisBrothersm). I think it's an original beat. But yeah it sounds really familiar and makes me think of that I'm On One beat or something T-Minus could have produced.Versive wrote:Is the "Bible on the Dash" bea taken from another song, as used to be the case with every mixtape track, or does it just sound a lot like something that's big right now? Yep. It has pretty much wrapped up every MMG/Gunplay mixtape that has dropped in the last year, including even Black Bar MitzvahBlockhead wrote:Hasn't it already been on like 3 of his mixtapes? realest in rap?
Re: Gunplay >>>>> Rick Ross
I've never really paid much attention to Gunplay but I checked out a few songs off Acquitted and I liked what I heard.
Don't really feel like scrolling through the entire thread so if somebody could just name a good place to start as far as individual tracks/mixtapes go I would appreciate it.

Re: Gunplay >>>>> Rick Ross
^ I never noticed Gunplay until White Sands Pt. 2 off Ross' Albert Anastasia EP:
Probably still one of my favorite verses from him.
The project that I played the most from him is 2011's "Off Safety"
01. Intro (feat. P-Cutta)
02. Rollin (feat. Rick Ross & Waka Flocka) (Prod. by Lil Lody)
03. No Arm And Hammer (Prod. by Castro)
04. Mask On (Prod. by Lil Lody)
05. Junkie (Prod. by The Renegades)
06. Drum Squad (Prod. by Schife)
07. Off Safety Interlude
08. Skrate Up Menace (Prod. by Misfit Sounds)
09. Herbalist (Prod. by Kino Beats)
10. She Know Wussup (feat. Gudda Gudda & Young Breed) (Prod. by Schife)
11. Wut They Yellin (Prod. by Schife)
12. Outro
Listen
Pretty good representation of his brand of mayhem, though I don't think his strength is in making LP's or mixtapes.

Drop Da Tint just got a video. It's only just occurred to me that the song is basically an unofficial companion to Mask On :
