ah... you know! yeah that beat was cool but the lyrics were too weird to go for a second verse .. enjoying it as a little interlude though..

liking that. beginning kinda reminds me of a softer version of what el p's been doing lately. not in a bad way though... michael into nas sample is enjoyableCaptin Planit wrote:From a beat battle a month ago...

Re: What Music Did You Make Today?
I like the broken feeling about this and the drama lent by the swelling strings. I wish the chops were a little cleaner, and if the drums had the feeling of being played in the same room, either with the application of very light reverb or something else to unify the individual hits, it would lend a lot to that overall mood of the track.Ned Ryerson wrote:had the day off today. made this:

Both of these remind me of Edan's Beauty and the Beat, albeit with a much more focused look at the psych loops without all the phasing and processing. The second one definitely feels more settled, but something about the changes in the first makes for a more interesting listen. I get a little lost in the transitions, but the whole piece is very tough. The end of the second beat with the flute loop atop the main groove is probably my favorite stretch of both pieces.
The rapping distracts me from listening to what is obviously a beautiful, lush instrumental with a very choice vocal sample. The quality of the vocals and the overall vibe of the beat remind me of some of my favorite DOOM and M.I.C. cuts, but I wish I could just listen to the beat itself.EichTurner wrote:.. reference lil mike and funnybone on this one..

thanks man.. i like that first beat you posted like someone said its very modern el-p ish.. personally i'd like some distortion on the bassline to give a bit more grit/weight.. vocal samples are kinda ehhCaptin Planit wrote:Both of these remind me of Edan's Beauty and the Beat, albeit with a much more focused look at the psych loops without all the phasing and processing. on the second beat that snare is eating up a lot of room needs some reverb maybe? the cheers sample a little too cheesey for me but that second section it leads into is killer..

Re: What Music Did You Make Today?
thanks man. will try that with the drums. and yeah chops need work too, i was going through old stuff i did when i first started and tried to "fix" this. chops were crazy before, have no idea what i was thinking.Captin Planit wrote:I like the broken feeling about this and the drama lent by the swelling strings. the newest beat you posted is cool, i like the change up towards the end a lot. the vocal sample that comes in brings everything together nicely. the snare sounds a little too clean for my tastes
really liking the beat on this eich. raps are pretty good but you might want to let the beat ride for a bit at some point. the beginning and ending feel a little abrupt with you rhyming straight through start to finish and it makes it feel crowded as is. i think it would benefit from a few bars minus raps midway through and mabye letting the beat play out after you stop rhymingEichTurner wrote:.. reference lil mike and funnybone on this one..

Made this one today on my Akai S3000XL, MIDI sequenced it with FLstudio, an ran it through a shitty mixer..

Was REALLY with it until the entire other song came on over it for the chorus. Definitely way out of key, but I can appreciate what you were going for. But that beat is fucking dense. I like it. The weird gremlin voice was a dope touch and the guitar really works.EichTurner wrote: https://soundcloud.com/eich-turner/georgia

this is dope. would really like to hear someone rhyme on it. the hi hat has a weird crunch or distortion to it that was kinda annoying me once i noticed it but it could just be the "shitty mixer" thoughZiekeFons wrote:Made this one today on my Akai S3000XL, MIDI sequenced it with FLstudio, an ran it through a shitty mixer..

really liked this. love the sample on the chorus and the abrupt transition to it. not sure if you'll find this insulting... but it reminds me a lot of bottle of humans era Sole minus the pretentiousness.EichTurner wrote:one more rap..

also i've listened to a couple of your songs where you're rapping and in general, i have a hard to time catching all the lyrics. i think it's more of a recording/mixing thing than delivery but sometimes it's hard to make out everything you're saying

no that's alright.. i've honestly never heard sole though. yeah i think it's partly the mixing partly being a mush mouth in real life too.. i feel like i've gotten better at it though from when i started out..Ned Ryerson wrote: really liked this. love the sample on the chorus and the abrupt transition to it. not sure if you'll find this insulting... but it reminds me a lot of bottle of humans era Sole minus the pretentiousness.

^ that's what i was thinking of. sole gets a bad rap on here. i don't think he's quite as bad as everyone seems to but it is definitely hard to get past the pretentious bullshit. he just seems like he's probably a huge douche in person. for what it's worth, i don't get that vibe from the few songs of yours that i've heard. it's more the beat, the sound of your voice and delivery that reminded me of this. and in terms of the mix/delivery, it could be a hell of a lot worse. i just miss some of what you're saying if i'm not really paying attention. liked the jeffrey dahmer/ dahmer party line. kinda surprised no one's flipped that before actually

Simple, but very effective. Really like the chops.
Definitely agree with CHANCE about the chorus, but the beat is nice. Main sample choice is nice.CHANCE RANDOM wrote:Was REALLY with it until the entire other song came on over it for the chorus.
