Indeed, way better than I thought it'd be considering I'm not a fan of Belgian wheats. Was pretty damn hoppy and delcious though, I got pretty damn drunk off it Sunday. Some bars in town still have it, Haymarket, Schuba's and the Ogden do.
El fucked around and made the best album this year. Mike came witit persusual. Swag
"i cant listen to any rap... i think it all is pretty much boring to listen to.... i would never listen to some underground or mtv-underground shit when im home washing dishes or whatever... but some people still like rap... god bless em, thats who buys my records!"- sole
I'd have a much harder time ranking his lousy beats. Hard to do it with the good ones because for me at least they're really mood dependand.
It did dawn on my yesterday upon listening to Butane that if you heard that and thought "Man I wish they'd make a full album just like this" (and not just like "a Killer Mike and El-P" album, but an album that specifically captured the tone and intensity of that track for 10+ songs") they really fucking did.
El-P and Killer Mike, who together are Run The Jewels, released their excellent self-titled album earlier this year as a freebie via Brooklyn-based label Fools Gold. Now they’ve announced plans to re-issue the an expanded version of the album – featuring new songs and a remix by TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek – via UK label Big Dada/Ninja Tune.
The re-release will coincide with a short hop around Europe, with the duo covering Denmark, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK and France.
Watch Run The Jewels’ video for ’36″ Chain’, featuring Andrew WK, a furry puppet and tons of tongue-in-cheek violence.
Tour dates:
20 Nov – Vega, Copenhagen, Denmark
23 Nov – Rote Fabrik, Zurich, Switzerland
25 Nov – Cannabis Cup, Amsterdam, Netherlands
26 Nov – Brixton Electric, London, UK
27 Nov – Pan Pipper, Paris, France
Heard R.A.P. Music for the first time recently and have subsequently spun it a few more times. Not feeling the beats at all. I'm gonna give it some more time because El-P beats are like that, but it was really grinding to my ears.
I went to Norway last winter to see el-p and it was fucking great. Only thing I got disappointed on was that there was a bunch of fellas there drinking alkohol and didnt give a damn about his show. They just took up space.
killer mike played a vice show in mtl last night. free entry, free beer. insane energy. people were jumping up and down to an a cappella verse. hip hop lives!
I don't care what website supported their video as long as it helps them make videos. I'm guessing Facebook, Google, UMG, Pinterest or whoever wasn't coming to them wanting to make a video.
I notice the European edition has a new song with Q-Bert (guess i assumed that was the for next one) and Dave Sitek and Blue Sky Black Death remixes. Also, digital instrumentals.
