Re: The All-Inclusive Odd Future Thread + Music
i aint heard a lot of his shit, but he doesn't sound on-beat at all here to me. and this is from a paul barman stansleazy_j wrote:sort of derailing, but blockhead is like the reverse of my homeboy, in that block likes kool keith (i think) but thinks riff raff is "terrible at rapping".
i could understand that if it were true in that if he were offbeat and lacked rhythm, but that isn't the case. and he rhymes words with ease.
he probably rhymes words more than most rappers.
i think there's an underlying distaste for him that he isn't speaking on.

I think riff raff is an entertaining character. I don't listen to his music but I'm also not one who sits around cursing it's existence. He's funny and I think his whole "troll the earth" angle is pretty awesome. That said, if you think he's "good" at rapping, then you have different standards for what is and isn't on beat.
Dude straight up STRUGGLES with any flow that goes beyond simple. The thing is, I don't think he takes his rapping very seriously so I don't really hold it against him. He's just a wacky guy like that. It's his fans that swear up and down like he's some sick genius that kinda leaves me scratching my head.
also comparing him to kool keith , outside of them both being ridiculous at times and strange, is comical.

the novelty of the album is just about wearing off for me, but I can say during its heydays Cowboy & 48 were getting major play. whole album is class though. wolf is the album goblin should have been. goblin was ok but it had too many eeeh parts. it's like tyler was still trying to figure himself out.

Yeah, it's really good. Production from Mac Miller is minimal, but solid. Couple nice guest spots from Schoolboy Q & Ab-soul, and Vince proves to be one of the nicest young MC's in the game. He might not be true OF, but next to Earl, this my favorite OF affiliated album. Guns & Roses is the cut.

Re: The All-Inclusive Odd Future Thread + Music
I was a fan of Domo's Rolling Papers (largely because of Tyler's production), but I haven't liked anything he's released since. The Alchemist/Domo project definitely had better production, but Mac holds his own behind the boards. Domo is zzzzzz's though and Vince gives, by far, the most mature performance of any OF related releases.
Most of what I'd heard from Vince was violent shock raps alongside Earl, I had no idea he had this type of a story to tell with this level of skill and wordplay.

Refreshing to hear them all really kill it 'cept for Domo (but he's been getting his shine lately). Good beat but a bit lacking by Nottz standards.

I did a piece recapping the group's ascension over their first two years via their NYC shows for the Village Voice today. Still surreal to look back at how fast the Odd Future hoopla spread - http://blogs.villagevoice.com/music/201 ... encion.php

Hammerstein was Earl's first ever concert with the group wasn't it? It must have been epic. The crowd must have gone nuts. It was, and we had absolutely no idea. Slight delayed reaction from the crowd who didn't believe it when he stepped on the stage because pulling off such a surprise seemed too good to be true in the modern internet cameras-everywhere age.ChaMerZ wrote:Hammerstein was Earl's first ever concert with the group wasn't it? Rustie remix of the Pusha T and Tyler song. Beat is cool as far as Rustie production goes, the hook portion sounds like some dusted out Seinfeld Theme, but the beat doesn't really compliment the raps well.
