Re: Busta Rhymes & Q-Tip - "The Abstract And The Dragon"
How fuckin retarded... there's 9 actual Busta Rhymes & Q-Tip joints, but of those 9, 5 are skits along with the intro and an interlude which means there's only TWO ACTUAL NEW SONGS!!! Jesus christ... *shaking head*

Re: Busta Rhymes & Q-Tip - "The Abstract And The Dragon"
the disconnect is not too surprising really... we're too spoiled by the new rules where a mixtape = a proper original release that's barely different from a proper album. meanwhile these are two old men who are still following the old mentality of mixtape = odds and ends and old stuff and a few proper new tracks meant to promote an album (presumably busta's ELE 2)

I am a supporter of all things TIP, but I knew this was going to be a best of mixed with a few new joints. It's still kinda wack that they could not have made 4 or 5 new songs, but whatever. Still an enjoyable listen.
Re: Busta Rhymes & Q-Tip - "The Abstract And The Dragon"
They must have some shit sitting in the vaults that never came out. They could've CDQd that demo version of Scenario for one.

Wicked22 advertises psychopath behavior traits, but he's right
2 new songs IS underwhelming for ANY full length project.
especially considering they must have oodles of demo's, you know you know
rap is outta control

good point about demos, i'm guessing they have od amounts of random outtakes and whatever just wasting away on old reels and hard drives

Re: Busta Rhymes & Q-Tip - "The Abstract And The Dragon"
I read an interview where Tip said he lost almost everything he made in the 90's in the house fire. I'm sure that was all on DAT or 2 inch as that was pre digital. At least the early to mid 90's stuff. The Scenario demos that leaked a few years ago were all from cassette tape. Can't really make something CDQ out of a cassette tape copy.
Still, that does not account for the numerous joints I am sure they have or could have made over the last 5-8 years. Or they could have just sat down and made a few joints.
Not sure about Busta, but TIP is just like an over the top perfectionist from all reports and from what I can tell. I mean, I get taking 2 or even 3 years to make an album, but this guy's last album was 2008 (which took him like 8 years to make) and no telling when The Last Zulu will drop. I can deal if the music is as good as his last, but I guess this goes to show you why he wasn't gonna rush out a mixtape with Busta with a bunch of new joints.

Q-Tip doesn't make music that sounds like Dr. Dre's Perfect Interscope Sanitized Plastic SuperSound
why does it take him so long? thought he'd get a little faster at it after doing it for like 25 years :P

Yeah man, Q-Tip lost everything in the late 90s... his record collection, demos, DAT's, EVERYTHING!! Sad...pradadon wrote:I read an interview where Tip said he lost almost everything he made in the 90's in the house fire. I'm sure that was all on DAT or 2 inch as that was pre digital.
