Word em up. That Tip LP is excellent. "The Ecstatic" is extremely solid, just not quite "there" on a classic level for me, but pretty close.

Preservation remixed the entire album and released it for free. I wrote about it. http://www.tinymixtapes.com/chocolate-g ... -recstatic

Pretty sure I wasnt the only one who found BOBS incredibly underwhelming.
I'm with you on this. I think the best thing Mos Def ever did with the Universal Magnetic 12".

Black on Both Sides is a very dull album considering. That Face Lace review nails it.

I think Mos is a cunt, yet this is still the worst thing I've ever read in my life.

Yeah, it's described in the press release as a "never-before-heard alternate track to The Ecstatic’s final cut, 'Casa Bey.' It’s the only track that Preservation did not remix here; instead he releases an early version of Yasiin Bey’s vocal on a track produced by Minnesota (Money Boss Players). The track represents a pre-version that existed before Bey found the perfect accompaniment from Banda Black Rio."

Don't sleep on this shit.

okay, so i know this looks like i just added a few extra tracks, but that's not the case. a few months ago, mos def's dj, preservation, remixed the entire album. here's what i did: for some of the ecstatic tracks, i left the originals as they are; for other tracks, i replaced them with the remix version; and, for a few of the tracks, i edited the remix in to the original, fusing them in to one song. therefore, although it's still the ecstatic, in some ways, it's a different listen. however, all orginals/remixes aside, the added tracks - 24hr karate school, cream of the planet, taxi, and black fantastic - are worth the download.

supermagic
24 hour karate school
twilite speedball
auditorium (ft slick rick)
wahid
priority
quiet dog bite hard
cream of the planet
life in marvelous times
the embassy
pistola
pretty dancer
workers comp
black fantastic
revelations
taxi
history (ft talib kweli)
casa bey
