Blockhead and Aesop have been beefing for awhile now.TheTed wrote:Who else doesn't "like him"?Employee wrote:Brougham33 wrote:https://www.facebook.com/DJBIGWIZ/posts/715349011877920Why is Aesop Rock so difficult to work with? Nobody seems to like him.Rob Sonic and I are still working together

Re: Hail Mary Mallon "Bestiary" thread (Album stream on page
I thought that might be the case but Aesop was on Dour Candy last year and (from what I understand) sent Block tracks from Skelethon to listen to. Do you know what the beef is about?Cleanhobo wrote:Blockhead and Aesop have been beefing for awhile now.
I'd also heard that him and El-P weren't on the best terms, but I had no idea why.
Re: Hail Mary Mallon "Bestiary" thread (Album stream on page
No clue what the specifics are but it seems like right around when Camu passed away that both of them stopped collaborating, putting out music on the same label, etc. Unfortunate because they put out some great music together but both of them have still progressed in their own ways since the split.TheTed wrote: I'd also heard that him and El-P weren't on the best terms, but I had no idea why.
Aesop seems to be a tortured genius. I know it sounds cliche to say it, but in that "one of four" song he released as a b-side to labor days/daylight ep, he seemed to openly admit that he's had serious bouts of depression and other issues and that he kinda separates himself from others. I imagine that is the recipe for disaster when working with other people on a regular basis as opposed to just doing his own thing.
Sucks for Wiz that he got ousted or whatever, but HMM will still be dope regardless.

Re: Hail Mary Mallon "Bestiary" thread (Album stream on page
If this isn't about creative or personal differences, then it is probably a money issue.
Why else would how many members in your group matter? It would matter if touring was involved, and coordinating funds for a group's touring needs. RS probably gave HMM a small budget as they aren't selling albums like Aesop Rock sold on Def Jux, and all 3 members toured with for Aesop's last few tours.
Or maybe it is easier to pay Wiz as a guest DJ on tracks for possible royalties versus being considered an equal 1/3 of a group. What's the odds that the Wiz and Rob Sonic group don't get a deal with Rhymesayers?
This is all my speculation that could be miles from the truth, but I think they aren't outlandish thoughts, either.

Dope record, might be the coolest piece of vinyl I own. Hard to say if I like it better than the first, I think it's a more consistent and accessible record. The first one really grew on me though and has several songs I come back to on the regular, time will tell how this one compares.
4 AM, Hang Ten, Kiln, and King Cone are early favorites.

I like it better than the first, too. Even better than RTJ2, fwiw. Production on Kril is a monster.
