Pharoahe Monch career move 3.0

Post by Philaflava »

Not that I mind because I haven't really loved his last few albums or felt he delivered what he is capable of, but I guess he never will so I fully endorse this WTF move.

Includes high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more. Paying supporters also get unlimited streaming via the free Bandcamp app.

Pharoahe Monch's "Lost In Translation" is a collection of previously released songs from his solo albums as well as features from 2000 to 2015. Love being the consistent theme birthed the decision for a Valentine's Day 2015 release. Featured on this set are appearances from Justin Timberlake, Jill Scott, Eric Roberson, dEnAuN, Brandon Williams, Sergio Mendes, Will.I.Am, Robert Glasper, Sa Ra, and Mela Machinko. The set also features one new track “Home (HGH)” featuring Phonte’ and Tamisha.
The title (taken from the film staring Bill Murray and Scarlet Johansen) is alluding to the fact that many of these songs have gone undiscovered by the public at large and more importantly Pharoahe’s direct fan base. W.A.R Media presents Pharoahe’s love letter to his fans on this day of love.

Just listened to it.
It's like Desire 2.0 with a tiny bit more lyrics. It isn't bad but it isn't BAD ASS.
Phonte is funny but dutty.
There will be MUCH worse music in 2015, what are you talking about Bruce Willis

That album cover is suspect.

Should have simply titled it "Lost", it gave a perfect description of his current mindstate.

I never understood why he never got a video done for "So Good"; that could've gotten him some airplay as a single. Or did he?

Pharoahe has issues with public exposure.

This was simply a valentines free mixtape collecting all his joints that delt w "love" and such sprinkled with a few new joints and him adding verses over other peoples shit. I wouldnt worry about pharoahes current career move im sure his next project will be in the same vein as the others. If u think we was really in the lab w JT u high :fail:

New interview with Pharoahe, he mentions a new "super-aggressive" Rock-influenced album so hopefully it a return to his distinct Hip Hop sound of darkness.

another quote from the interview about his upcoming album - "some full-circle Internal Affairs/Organized Konfusion type shit".

Sub-question: is it in fact unfair to criticize a formerly great artist for his latter day sins... is it better to burn out or fade away?

fading gives us more stuff so fading is better but like amy whinehouse album is still amazing partly because theres nothing else really to compare it to in her collection as an artist and the album really does stand on its own as a gem
