nice list. "higher level "is top5 primo beat imo, so i went with this one. return of the boom bap might have one of the best intro and closing track combos ever.

yeah its one of my favorite primo beats as well. when kanye says on 30 hours this is something you ride to, no, higher level is something you ride to.

:naswtf: How is that even possible? You've never listened to "Low end theory"? "That's when your lost"?

"Butter" is the one that's blowing my mind. It's on "Low end theory". I just assume everyone has heard that album a million times just by accident.
There are , like 2 or 3 songs on the list I can't recall listening too though so what do I know.

I guess I'm the only one so far who picked The Beatnuts "Get Funky". That's ALWAYS been one of my favorite joints!!

MC Eiht, seriously people??? Don't get me wrong that joint is dope, but you're pickin that over all the rest?? And SOM is in the lead. Why am I not surprised? smh

For me its...

01. The Beatnuts - Get Funky
02. Gravediggaz - Defective Trip (Trippin)
03. KRS-One - Higher Lever
04. Gang Starr - ALONGWAYTOGO (originally made for the Poetic Justice Soundtrack)
05. A Tribe Called Quest - Butter
06. Brand Nubian - Allah U Akbar
07. Souls of Mischief - That's When Ya Lost
08. Ras Kass - Etc
09. MC Eiht - All For The Money
10. Geto Boys - Six Feet Deep

easiest excuse is i grew up in the south. other excuse being broke and young white child with few friends, most weren't paying attention to rap
and family members didn't even like the idea of me being a rap consumer.

i was very much familiar with the tribe radio singles or songs that were mtv videos, but album cuts? no chance.

i had the video for "scenario" on vhs tape and used to watch it like crazy when it came out.

but overall i'm not a big native tongues fan.

first De La album I ever bought was AOI, which in hindsight was not a good purchase.

(i also only first ever heard the Gravediggaz album in 1997, when I found it on an FTP site.)
