I listen to krit a lot more than the others. But that's in large part to his beats too. If were picking based solely on rap rap rap, I'd go with phonte, ev, and ali before him. Went Phonte.

Ali. His recent output hasn't been great, but Shadows on the Sun is one of the best albums to come out of that time/scene, and still holds up today.

This was a difficult decision. All depends on if we are going by right now or at the rappers' peak. Ali (shadows on the sun era), Kweli (Black Star and Reflection Eternal era), and Phonte (Little Brother era) were all beasts. I don't really check for any of them currently though. Evidence has been consistent and has gotten better both at rapping and producing, plus I check for his newer stuff more than anyone on the list, so he got my vote. Evidence at his peak isn't as good as the aforementioned three at their respective peaks tho.
