Still a lot of good shit here, but you can see the drop off in 97 from previous years in the 90's...

Voted Biggie. I personally think that album is a masterpiece that gets slightly hated on for one reason or another. I think it's the most complete double album of all time filled classic after classic. Has something for everyone and Big just kills it verse after verse.

If this was 97 I probably would have picked CNN or maybe the Beatnuts. Maybe even Royal Flush. But that Big album is just amazing to me.

Love every album here, though. But like Gucci said, this is where shit just shifts.

Replace Uptown with War Report in that order.

97 was so boring except for some underground stuff. most albums sucked ... imo, it was the first year of the 90s singles outdid full-length albums, just like 86, 87.

anyways, voted for funcrusher+ because it was a start of the rawkus movement (that got me very much after the first few releases, too).

the last emp or natural e should have come out with an official album in 97...

...and if it hadn't been for trag, the war report would be a mediocre piece of music with some nice beats.

Last Emperor and Natural Elements being 1997's saviors

Get that Company Flow Bullshit outta this poll. Replace it with the CRU album or Juvenile's Solja Rags.

Voted Camp Lo but the best album of 1997 is #actually Suga Free's Street Gospel.

Out of this list, War Report over Uptown, but agree with IDAL, Solja Rags and Street Gospel are absolutely in the convo.

Tough one here. I want to vote OC and Funcrusher, but if I'm being honest w/ myself it's Biggie one and Wu-Tang two.

Something about In My Lifetime Vol. 1 really influenced me. That's my pick. Still a tough vote though because that's good list of albums that came out.

this was a really tough one for me. wu tang just edges out sex styles, biggie, funcrusher and common, my other faves from that year.

The dual discs really throw a monkey wrench in an already complicated situation imo. Probably going with war report.

I do not like Life After Death at all. :megaman:
Actually, that's a lie. But I'd rank every album on here, except for Jay-Z, Slum Village and Royal Flush, above it.

I'm surprised people actually like Life After Death so much. Sure, it has it's high points, but it has plenty of low points as well.

Lots of good tracks on LAD, and it had more classics than most albums, but I don't think I've ever listened to it all the way through in one sitting.

Also, 1998 >>> 1997.
