A few decent albums (with outstanding songs) but it's between Life After Death and Funcrusher Plus. Depends on where you want to go with the poll, album vs album or what it would mean to hip hop in a retrospective :bork: I'll argue Biggie's album was more enjoyable at the time, but Company Flow paved the route for what would ultimately be the best path for hip hop after Puff was just starting to take it waaaaaay left at the time. Went with Biggie anyway.

Camp Lo has held up the most for me, and it's the one I go back to the most often, so I voted for it.
Check out my FREE album featuring MAC LETHAL, ALASKA from HANGAR 18, HOMEBOY SANDMAN and J57 of the BROWN BAG ALL STARS -

i love when people denigrate life after death by saying it had a few weak songs...like theres any album from the late 90's much less 97 that was front to back fire much less a double album...the songs that were great on that record and there were tons were so much better than anything else around it wasnt even funny

cru has to be on that list somewhere

and maybe the most slept on album ever from any year is 'accept your own and be yourself'....other than biggie its probably my favorite 97 album....ill put that shit up with anything from that year

also while id never say its close to the best if you wanna revisit a forgotten gem check out nice and smooths album....its really underrated

In 1997, there was no better MC in the world than Pharoah Monche imo. I go back to Equinox frequently.
