I'mma take this home cause I'm the only person voting. I'm okay with that tho.

Lot on here that I've been meaning to get to that I haven't yet, but of those listened, Dilla.
Re: Instrumental Project of 2017
Is there that many choices? Can I get some suggestions?

I know nobody here cares all that much. But surprisingly we've already got a few votes. And there's some precedence. Apollo Brown also won for Clouds back in 2011.Blockhead wrote:I'mma take this home cause I'm the only person voting. I'm okay with that tho.
I've made it so you can change your vote if / when you change your mind partially for this reason.Rhyme 4 Rhyme wrote:Lot on here that I've been meaning to get to that I haven't yet, but of those listened, Dilla.
There were actually more choices, I've cut it down believe it or not. Apparently yes I am a crazy person. I'd probably just go with projects from names you know and like to start. Or check for what's been voted for if you wanna follow the taste of the forum that way.alpha wrote:Is there that many choices? Can I get some suggestions?
Most, maybe all of these are up on Bandcamp, Soundcloud, and / or YouTube in full.

Yeah, there's obviously all sorts of lesser known names that get left off, so feel free to use this thread to promote those artists as well.
Oh and I was gonna say that in terms of multiple projects by some of the artists: Blockhead also dropped Known Unknowns – The Instrumentals, Knxwledge has a couple other projects this year, Ma Dukes put out another Dilla EP, and Pete Rock also released The Original Baby Pa Instrumentals... so if people prefer something else over what's already listed then they can just vote for the artist they like rather than the project.

Voted blockhead -- dope album.
The L'Orange album was good -- doesn't immediately stand up to his earlier work though IMHO.
I wanted to love the 37th Chamber -- but was let down aside from a few key moments.
Awesome that you included Impossible Nothing on here -- that project is stupid in a great way.
Other favs:
VIK - Facts of Life
All These Fingers - Lodge
ELUCID - Horse Latitude

Re: Instrumental Project of 2017
Yeah this one I just tried to keep to bigger names or stuff relevant to the boom-bap crowd for the most part but that Impossible Nothing record was the exception.
Fuck, should've included that Elucid record here.

Re: Instrumental Project of 2017
It's a fitting oversight as he also dropped an amazing solo album in Valley of Grace and AOTY with Armand Hammer's ROME ... like, "and oh BTW, here's another weird project that's almost all noise-instrumental except for one song that's a poetry reading, hi."
Re: Instrumental Project of 2017
i totally cant get into Elucid's voice. kinda ruins Armand Hammer for me.
