Many people seem to feel that The Grind Date and Stakes is High have a very similar vibe. Obviously SIH has been available to the public for far longer than TGD. However, for those who have listened to both albums in their entirety, which one stands out...?

I can play SIH all the way through easily but on Grind Date "Shoomp" always gets skipped and sometimes "No" and "Shopping Bags"
With that said they both are great.

I love Grind Date. Excellent listen and some nice work by De La.
But Stakes is High is one of my favorites of all time. SIH is a fucking gem of an album.

Stakes Is High without any sort of hesitation. It might be my favourite De La LP.

Stakes Is High. One of the best hip-hop records ever.

....Because it helped me through some hard times and was such a refreshing album when it dropped in 1996...it stood out from the pack and it was De La crafting songs and was such a soulful record as well.
Plus I had a release party for that album and ended up getting over 300 people through the door and it was a dope night on all levels and oh yeah I got paiidddddd...lol 8)

both are dope albums! SIH is probably better in my eyes, just because it felt more like a traditional De La album. but with the AOI albums and GD, it shows me that De La can try different stuff and still come out dope, like OutKast. The more I listen to GD, the more i like it. even shopping bags is growing on me. haha

"Stakes Is High" just off the power of "The Bizness" w/ Common Sense.
