The Greatest Emcee of All-Time (Poll)
Pick from the list who you feel is the greatest emcee of all-time. If your pick isn't on the list, tough. I was only allowed ten names and chances are your pick would not be selected by the majority of us anyways.

I don't care how cliche it is.
Only one choice is logical

The great R ...
lets break down a few things
Jay-Z...did the same song for well over 10 years, corny voice and flow, highly over rated
Ghostface Killah...I don't know if he is one of the greatest ever, but he is one of the tightest MC's to ever touch a Mic...hard to forgive him for that "'Tush" bullshit though
2 Pac....Why is he here?, all he did was make 'thug life' look cool to white kids, became his bishop character and was actually a very abc rhymer, remember kids he was a former dancer in Digital Underground and oddly enough not a thug back then, even though he claimed he was born a thug.
Eminem...wack, juvenile, whiny voiced little bitch that made pop rap , drugs, foul mouth talk and wigger culture cool for shopping mall and suburban little boys and girls, a complete gimmick and an embarrasment to hip hop he should NEVER have happened.
I would add Aesop Rock,..come on bring the hate..I'm waiting

i refuse to vote, just because trying to name a "greatest of all time" is pointless, infanitely arguable, and a waste of time.
Now, if you want to do a poll on who had the greatest IMPACT of all time on rap music, then I would have to vote Rakim. The dude basically changed the way almost everybody in the industry did their thing when he dropped. You can argue about that all you like, but anyone with sense can see Rakim did more for the current state of hip-hop than almost anyone else.
Even cats nowadays who never HEARD of Rakim before they started rapping have to owe something to Rakim because HE influenced the rappers that influenced them.

what was he driving, and was he travelling at magnificent speeds around the universe?Pizon wrote:I was disappointed Kanye wasn't on the list. Phila, you're slippin.
Anyway, I voted Rakim. I just seen dude on the road before too... I knew he lived around here, but I had never seen him around. He was easy to spot too, with his "ITS THE R" vanity license plate. :D

You are at Jason's mercy, remember?Dango727 wrote:Where's LL?
LL should be on the list before Ghost, using normal logic. In terms of "greatness" as you usually apply it, Ghost has come nowhere near to the solo artist accomplishments of LL or even a Too $hort or Ice Cube.
But it's Jason's list and his favorite guy gets to be on it. That's the American way, get down with it.

if it was down to cube or em, i'd vote cube. i even had cube on the list but here i think it's safe to say more people would vote Em over him. Either way neither of them are the GOAT.clark bent wrote:i wont vote

Not at all. I made this list with the nerds in mind. This does not reflect my Top 10 whatsoever. I think clearly the GOAT is Rakim, but this list is to be somewhat diverse. No way is Em, LL, Caz, Cube, Aesop Rock or Slug the GOAT, so if they are on the list or not, it doesn't matter. BTW, Cube was my favorite rapper growing up, but he isn't #1, but prolly top 7 in my book.Mike (NJJ) wrote:You are at Jason's mercy, remember?Dango727 wrote:Where's LL?

But you said that if our guy wasn't on the list then no one would want him anyways...true of nerd pics like Aesop and Slug, but not of obvious choices like LL and Cube. You might not like LL that much, I know I don't, but you should know that lots of people recognize him as a top 10 if not top 5 artist.PhilaFlava wrote:I made this list with the nerds in mind.
Still, it's your list. Not trying to down it, I voted, just sharing opinions on it.
