i think calling it a "terrible" album is a bit of a stretch. but anyone claiming it's a "classic" album would be stretching too. as an album it's good, it's solid...it's not GREAT, it's not HORRIBLE. as far as living up to hype, nothing ever does, we know that by now.

if i had a complaint, and this may sound dumb, but i tend to associate songs with colors in my head while listening (i think some others of you have mentioned that before) and a lot of this album seems to be the same muddy color, whereas something like chance's record had a lot of varying "colors" and sounds and still came off as a very cohesive project.

16 year old Emp was apparently a very shrewd and seasoned music listener.
When I was 16 I thought the Cella dwellas were gonna take rap to places only imagined in Dark Crystal. Pretty sure an Earl album would have blown my mind at that age.

I'm sorry that I've offended The Fraternal Order of Earl Brollegiance.

(a) Didn't say the album was "terrible"; I said that Earl was a "terrible maker of albums." Like you, Intuition: you're functional at rap, but your albums are terrible. Maybe that's why my rapinion hits close to your heart, bro.

(b) I wasn't "shrewd" at sixteen or any other age, but I liked to listen to rap that was like the rap Earl rapped before his stint in Camp Brainwash. I like hype shit and always have; shit that makes you get buck. This is a great album if you are totes depressed and are listening to it while you're on the bus after taking thirty cess rips.

I feel like "Centurion" isnt getting the mentions it deserves. One of the rawest tracks on the record in my opinion.

Yeah. But all the leaks didn't help that either. I'm curious what I'd be saying about the album if I had heard 95% of for the first time when I got the album.
Also, anyone wanna pm me a link?
I deliberately avoid every leak (sands the two songs with videos) for that very reason. I went into it surprised that it even existed. The time between Earl's last full-length and now are the difference between the summer of someone's freshman year of high school and their summer before college. Probably the biggest 3 year difference a person goes through, so I was expecting something pretty different from that first release but still showed the talent. I'm satisfied with it. Too many cooks in the kitchen on a lot of it, but Earl's rapping better than most teenagers post-Samoa Reprogramming Facility.

This album is fresh. Earl's verses are just really well put-together, and the production does what it needs to. There were definitely too many leaks, but I guess that's just the game nowadays.

Finally got around to listening to this. Solid album, nothing ground-breaking or even remotely close to classic. I dig shit like this tho. Yeah, it's dark and it's weird but Earl can still spit and there are some definite joints on the record. "Hoarse" was dope, the song w/RZA was dope, I even dug the song with Franky O. Will definitely come back to this album in the near future.

Not feeeeling these pre-school class project beats.

Earl can rap when he's inspired. Most of this album bored the hell out of him when he was making it.

I can envision him yawning in the booth over 70% of this.

Could have been a really dope EP.

After one listen:

Production leaves a lot to be desired. Domo's verses ate hot, Tyler's effectively Tylery, the rest range from meh to Frank Ocean utterly ruining a track. Way too many features and bad ones at that.

I like Earl much better over bouncier beats than the gloomy stuff on this. That said - production tends to be something where my first impression doesn't hold up after more listens.

I like to pretend Earl is some weird kid who dropped a good EP consisting of Earl and Stapleton and then was never heard from again.
