One of my personal favorite Spekt verses is on Vordul's "Broken Halo"

"My soul to your soul brother, we keep it movin' on. Arrogant weed-heads smoke a roach born from the Super Chron. He swoopin off the whooping cough and your crew get bombed, and through the swamps it's Genghis to Kublai Khan"

Rediculous.

Orbital Mechanics is nothing to sneeze at either

Someone embed 52 Lashings, Spekt has the last verse and it's burner.

The Frontier Province video was made by Bond. In addition to making most of the beats on the early Backwoodz projects, he made a lot of these types of videos.

Here's a couple similar ones that Bond did for Super Chron-

That is unfortunate because that whole song is dope and Spekt blacks out at the end. I am a big fan of Hip Hop PSA though.

Yo man, much respect. Spekt has been telling me about this project, from what he's been saying, I know it's gonna be something real crazy

Thanks, he'll be back at my crib to record after I turn in my solo record and he gets back from NY. Should be done soon--its real dope so far.

None of those can happen soon enough for me. A whole east coast winter without any new grilchiness is a travesty.

That's what's up, I'm going to tcheck this tonight or tmrw. thanks
I have been a fan of MarQ Spekt since about 2002-ish
For real? Any chance you have the Shoplifter 12" or Ghostmaker CD? I'm dying to hear those, the Ghostmaker CD especially. Spekt told me even he doesn't have a copy.

Naw he said Ghostmaker will be out again....it's dudes like us who been having to convince him to rerelease the old shit. He feels like it was too unpolished and gets on that artist shit, so it takes convincing.

Haven't heard any of the Kno shit but he's really excited about it. Said it's some of his best work ever.

I did hear a lil bit of the track Doom produced for the Bionic Jazz project tho'...He spazzzzed on it, I think folks will love it.

Spekt is my man, but I tell him sometimes being too artistic wit your shit ain't good. You gotta give the people what they want. Since he been getting more love online I think he's starting to understand.

I listened to the School Of Sharks compilation that Drizzle posted in Steady Bloggin' and it sounded like some boring mediocre attempt at reviving 1993's worst cliches. Can someone convince me why I shouldn't write off Speqt completely?

Forget the Broady/Sharks stuff, definitely not in your lane. Listen to the Invizzibl Men album. Failing that or as far as random songs, his verses on "52 Lashings", "Orbital Mechanics", "Murder Illustrated", "This Is Hip-hop", "Armored Truck Rap"...in that order.

this is the kinda shit that keeps me coming back, even though i agree that some of the school of sharks stuff isn't all that (my take is nowhere near as harsh as yours though, it has its moments). he frequently outshines many of the people he works with as far as creativity and just general skill and style, imo his solo stuff (aside from the big juss collab) is >>>>>>>

I agree to a point as well and I know him and some of the Sharks kids. I think more than anything he wants to help some of those cats be heard. I still say that his best shit hasn't been released tho' but Coolehmag named a bunch of good songs.

Yeah that was just my first impression, I intend to eventually return to it. You have to understand that I'm beyond burnt out on 90s-styled stuff, if I hear music that in any way approaches that sound I am very critical.

Give him a chance. You won't regret it. :pause:

I'm feeling this release more than the School of Sharks tape, which I also dig. Huey P Capone is dope.

glad u like and and i concur (not just cause steadyb had the drop either lol). there's way more spekt, both of them seem more energetic, and it's really cool to hear them over red and one beer (even if those aren't the real instrumentals)
