Pretty much. I'd say he was a competent rapper but he's so bland its a wonder he's as high profile as he is. There is absoloutely nothing unique or interesting about him at all.
This thread should be made a bit more all encompassing to include Mac Miller, Big Sean, Pusha T and their ilk.
Re-title it 'Life's too short :do you ever think about when you outta here?'

J. Cole can write some pretty sharp bars sometimes... but dude REALLY is boring as hell, as a personality. Makes Joe Buddens seem like Axl Rose.

I remember when J. Cole's very first song came out, I said "this is the guy Jay-Z wants to sign? He's kinda plain." Not much has changed.

and I didn't even see what Nas said... cause as far as I'm concerned, he should just get more down like a God's Son song remix

what if Jay-Z was the one who gassed J.Cole up to go head-to-head vs. Kanye on June 18th?

I wouldn't put it that far past Shawn :killacam:

rap is outta control

Dude is a paragon of mediocrity. He's like an even cornier Big Sean, but without any of the good features of production.

At least Sean has the occasional song where you can fast forward through his verse and enjoy the rest of it, or where the beat isn't trash. Cudi is equally cornball though, you're right. And not really a rapper, but Donald Glover is cornier than all of these dudes combined imho.

IDFWU is better than any song j. cole has ever made. i def like childish gambino more than j. cole as well

IDFWU has certainly grown on me. Gambino just exudes this 'poor-me' shit that drives me up the wall. I guess the fact that I'm actually annoyed by him and completely indifferent to j cole counts for something, but imo the general quality of his music is pretty terrible whereas cole is just numbingly average.

The stream is out for the album today. Beats are decent but his raps are whatever IMO
