Agreed about the potential. They kinda caught the tail end of that scene that ended up dying out before its time in a lot of ways, IMO. Listened to the come back stuff too. Sheesh. Wow. Not good.

i don't really mean that nickatina is a celebrity. just that there's a separate indie rap industry outside of the east/south that rappers can do pretty well in that is a step up from "just some local shit"

How the fuck does this make sense? Explain this.
Searched "Tash" on this forum because for the life of me I can't remember the last time online or offline that I can remember someone bringing his name up, and the last time someone did on this forum it was over ten months ago.

That person ten months ago happened to be you, saying that Tash should be rated higher on Complex's 50 Most Underrated Rappers list.

So I think you might know exactly what I mean.

Nah it was that never existed part. That had me like :naswtf: .
Alkaholiks all around are one of my top groups ever. They're just underrated period from the beats to rhymes. I feel like J-Ro's verse on Next Level til this day is so heavily slept on.

Just a cot dayum shame, man. I was hoping they would've adapted more so. Got with someone that compliment them like Exile on the production or some shit.

Suga Free has a totally distinct rap style and he made his debut 2 years before Celly Cel came out anyway :

Royal Rock - Pure Pimp (video mix) (1992)

Different name and no Quik on the beats, but his game was exactly the same.

Philaflava....Todd aka Too Short has ZERO pimp bones in his body. He just raps about a lifestyle. SugaFree is signed stamped and approved. He is preaching legitimate gospel.

I will never understand why people rate Rass Kass so highly but maybe it's a taste thing.

Intelligent though? Come on...that cat was slinging lame conspiracy theories built of skimming thru the Isis Papers while The Coup were making actually intelligent music.

That's just one song. The rest of the album is full of generally excellent writing, whether it's battleraps, social critique or more personal songs. Every verse on SOI is pretty much perfect.
The Coup were making actually intelligent music.
LOL @ communism being intelligent. Maybe in the 19th century.

I did not find much remarkable about it at the time. To each their own.

Yeah, I got nothing to talk to you about. Have a nice evening though.

DJ Quik is underappreciated as a rapper.

PEACE
Yup. One of hip hop's biggest secrets is how DJ Quik is actually better than Dr. Dre at both rapping AND producing, but probably because of Quik's bad karma from his Bloods banging and shit back in the days, he never got on board a machine that could maximize his amazing talent like Dr. Dre did when Jimmy Iovine stabbed Suge Knight in the back and took Dre to Interscope so Dre could remain the most popular producer in gangsta rap music. Quik has always been a better song writer, vocalist, creative thinker, and most of his music is sonically and aesthetically superior to Dr. Dre's relatively workmanlike G-funk wheelhouse staple style of music. Quik was also a bit of a weirdo with effeminate permed hair and unwaveringly West Coast to the point he didn't really tour or do East Coast cameos in a time where even the most cursory excursions to new areas were important for a rap career. Quik also had some bad karma from when his crew killed that guy at the Death Row event. But DJ Quik should be on every list about "who matters in the West".

SO SHOULD SAAFIR THE SAUCEE NOMAD

Casual and King Tee are the only ones I fuck with from that list.

Tash should also be added as I fucked with the Liks when they came out for a while.

Ras Kass is a lyricist but never made a song that had any replay value for me.

I just don't fuck with West Coast rap too tough.

King Tee, WC and Eiht are most definitely up there. I've been listening to a lot of DJ Quik lately, and acts like Second II None, Penthouse Players, AMG, so on that tip, I'd say Hi-C, while maybe not the best, is definitely under appreciated.

Speaking of DJ Quik tho:
http://www.xxlmag.com/news/2013/10/dj-q ... ids-rumor/
DJ Quik is airing out his grievances.

In a few tweets over the course of two days, the West Coast producer hinted that he was upset over something Andre 3000 said. After giving out a few cryptic tweets, Quik says that Three Stacks told his brother that he got “the monster.” The term most likely refers to AIDS.

The last tweet also throws shots at Andre 3000 with “Andre Badu,” which refers to his former relationship with Erykah Badu. Currently, Andre 3000 hasn’t responded to the situation.

Hitman of RBL Posse, Young Droop, Every single mc from Closed Caption (J-Rich, Tangaraynell and Bad Newz Brown), Ad Kapone of Totally Insane, Taydatay or anyone from 11-5 and the same goes for anyone in Two-Illeven, especially Jamez Mack.
