this is the kinda shit that keeps me coming back, even though i agree that some of the school of sharks stuff isn't all that (my take is nowhere near as harsh as yours though, it has its moments). he frequently outshines many of the people he works with as far as creativity and just general skill and style, imo his solo stuff (aside from the big juss collab) is >>>>>>>[/quote]

I think he did a lot of his best work on that Invizzibl Men album, next to Karniege. Songs like Free Dilla Lunch, Thin Air, Hip-Hop PSA, 52 Lashings, Jimmy Swagger in particular. They are a good pairing IMO.

Thanks, I just got around to peepin' the School of Sharks and the Spekt/Capone joint. Didn't realize Capone was Nyce, Nyce was always my second favorite from Broady, but that project's pretty shitty. I can see why Spekt didn't want it to see the light of day, Nyce is off beat on half the tracks and Spekt wasn't spittin the type of rhymes that he usually does.

I liked the School of Sharks better, but there were several songs I'd heard before and a couple (especially the Nyce solo song) that really sucked.

Don't think I've heard any of this new (old) batch of songs, but looking forward to peeping.

MarQ Spekt & Kno- Machete Vision
Image
01. Machete Vision (Intro)
02. Roadhouse ft. Action Bronson
03. Top Back ft. Deacon The Villain
04. All Smiles (Plastic Mask)
05. The Royal Peasants ft. Anna Wise
06. Opium Den
07. AquaMarine
08. Crime Seen ft. Kno
09. The Devil
10. Danger ft. Meyhem Lauren, Huey P. Capone, F.T. & Lex Boogie
11. Wikileaks

Set to drop October 25th. I know there's a lot of Kno haters around here, but I'd like to think that has little to do with his beats. Spekt's one of the best MC's doing it and hasn't released anything new in a while, so I'm eager to hear how he comes off over a different style of production. The guests look pretty solid as well, I could easily see this being one of the best releases of the year. Nothing's leaked yet, which is pretty impressive considering how long ago this was conceived.

Cover is great and in keeping with his aesthetic too, unless Kno mailed it in on the beats there is no way that this isn't ill.

Yeah, this should be great. I've always liked Kno's beats and became an instant fan of Spekt once I heard some of the stuff posted in this thread (especially "Orbital Mechanics," that is the jam). Really amped to hear the Bronson & Lauren collabos.

Looking foward to this 4 sho

Machete Vision can't come soon enough...because of that I decided to make a little Best of Spekt comp to hold me over till October 25. I left out most of his early material and tried to focus on stuff released since '07. The essential stuff with Jus and with the Broady Champs is included though. Since Spekt doesn't really have a best of comp out there, I decided to put a little effort in and edit out the non-Spekt verses and share it with ya'll. Other than HipHopPSA (which is back and forth with Karniege) and OG's (where I just had to keep Akil Nuru's verse) this comp is 100% Spekt verses, and in my opinion his best verses. I'm not a DJ, but I tried to sequence it so that it works as a mixtape. Enjoy.

1. MarQ Spekt- Armor Truck Rap
2. Bigg Jus- Orbital Mechanics ft. MarQ Spekt
3. MarQ Spekt- The Feast
4. Invizzibl Men- 52 Lashings
5. Bigg Jus- No Dessert Till You Finish Your Vegetables ft. MarQ Spekt
6. Broady Champs- Hydro
7. Invizzibl Men- Jimmy Swagger
8. MarQ Spekt- 2 Cents
9. Super Chron Flight Brothers- Rap City ft. MarQ Spekt
10. Super Chron Flight Brothers- Frontier Province ft. MarQ Spekt
11. Invizzibl Men- HipHopPSA
12. MarQ Spekt- Big Boy Beats
13. LoDeck & Omega One- Nice Kids ft. Invizzibl Men
14. MarQ Spekt- One Beer Freestyle
15. MarQ Spekt- Jetlag
16. MarQ Spekt- The OGג€™s ft. Lex Boogie & Akil Nuru
17. MarQ Spekt- Murder Illastrated ft. Dynas
18. MarQ Spekt- Freestyle
19. Invizzibl Men- Futurama
20. MarQ Spekt- The Upperhand
21. MarQ Spekt- Guttersniping ft. Lex Boogie
22. Vordul Mega- Broken Halo ft. Invizzibl Men & HiCoup
23. MarQ Spekt- Electrolytes
24. Broady Champs- 151 Banger (rmx)
25. MarQ Spekt- The Corner Freestyle
26. Broady Champs- T.O.P.
27. Invizzibl Men- Thin Air
28. MarQ Spekt- Black Soul

yeah, I guess it was...but it never filled that void for me, plus the sound quality wasn't all that. I loved the way they did that best of woods with all his verses stacked together, so I thought I'd try to emulate that.

I ran into him at the A3C Festival here in Atlanta the other day. He was chilling with Action Bronson when I rolled up on him, said that the album is crazy and kno made him go hard with the verses. Not too much information but he was excited about it, said him and Action may shoot a video for the song.

I tried to get to listen to some music or get any info but he was really tightlipped, plus was about to go smoke some erb with Action so I didnt push the issue.

I tried guys!

Im looking forward to buying this in a few weeks.

Trying to get into this dude's music, it didn't do anything for me at the time. Also Im a lil slow, Someone explain this NY State Of Mind reference that Action Bronson song has. A nigga missed it or maybe I was listening too hard, lol.

He uses the same rhyme scheme (for the most part) that Nas does on NY State of Mind. I definitely appreciated it more once I found that out, but I still prefer the 2nd verse which is vintage Spekt.
