The EP is the best shit he's done. I don't know if it's going to draw nonbelievers, but if you saw promise in him from the other shit or figured you might like it if he refined it a little, then people should check the EP.

Wish I got tickets to one of the NY shows, but both of them sold out in 3 hours.

Yeah, his voice just seems more annoying on Culdesac. I didn't like it that much, but the track with the Adele sample is dope imho. He's definitely improved since then. The EP is more polished.

Over the weekend, we saw the track list (and guest features) for Childish Gambino‘s upcoming album, Because The Internet. And last night on Arsenio, he debuted one of the tracks, “Shadows”, with a little help from co-producer (and bassist) Thundercat. To be completely honest, the inclusion of the Brainfeeder artist on here is what caught my eye, but this is actually pretty nice. I’m really hoping that the Because The Internet version sounds this good, otherwise I’ll need someone to supply me with an audio rip. Please?

While his voice aint the greatest it sounds a lot more polished on this release than his previous ones, also his writing his better than 90% of rappers out today.

meh, i just think now he sounds like 75% kanye/drake with his quirky indie/hipster/race-identity confusion probing self instead of 25% kanye/drake with his indie/hipster/race-identity confusion probing self

and honestly, i'm a grown man now, i'm not on my high school/college kick of knowing everything and thinking being lyrical is #1, fuck good bars if you can't deliver them right or if your platform and overall M-O turns me the fuck off. basically knowing him as a rapper made everything else he did more annoying to me b/c as a rapper he revealed himself on a more personal level, and that level, my friend, is BITCHMADE

btw, getting out of community so you can further pursue your other artistic avenues and then making these verses and video knowing you were gonna leave the show by the time the shit dropped (even if he did this shit months ago and this ain't true the following still applies) makes no fucking sense. if you wanna be known for being a real rapper don't fucking piggyback the real reason you even got fame you piece of shit. and every time he says the word 'nigga' i wanna tell reverend jesse jackson about it so he can see it for the hate crime it is and call him out publicly. fucking faggot. don't get all :omgracist: on me either, i'm hating on him b/c i don't think he is doing that shit for any reason other than to sound more authentic as what he deems in his simple mind to be more authentic sounding. fuck outta here.

Reason is completely right though. This dude is the corniest motherfucker on the planet. He got his rap name from a web browser Wu-Tang name generator. He released a screenplay that you're supposed to read alongside his cheesy, boring, portentious ass album. He's a perfectly capable rapper, but he's also Kid Cudi levels of cornball bullshit.

On Juan Epstein, he said he quit Community because it felt like a job and he doesn't want to have his work feel like a job. And at least he left gracefully.

To not acknowledge the growth, especially on this most recent record, makes me think you are cemented in your opinion on him.

I agree with the remark about his overreaching ambition, only because this most recent record tries so many things that it's tough to sink into it as a whole.

But tracks like "Telegraph Ave" and "Sweatpants" are the type of shit I never expected him to make well when he first started making the I Am Just a Rapper tapes. And like somebody said about the Brainfeeder situation, it reminds me of Mac Miller's decisions to hang with the right crowd of people positively influencing the musical decisions he makes. Childish put himself around people that require him to hone what he does.

he doesn't want his work feeling like a job?

what an entitled piece of shit.

I only wish he wasn't so talented so it wouldn't be wasted but alas it is. BTW, I like half of "because of the internet". The other half is a piece of shit crud stuck in the grooves of the bottom of my sneakers.

I like 75% of the tracks on it. Might be a controversial opinion, but I like Worldstar (the way the beat switches up midway through the song. that shit is fantastic). I also prefer the songs where he is singing. To be honest, I don't think I'll ever take Glover seriously as an artist, but Because The Internet is a nice diversion.
